In the guided visits to Cálem caves you will learn about the Douro Demarcated Region, know how the Port is produced and stay abreast of all the details of the history of this House. The cellars themselves remain active and visitable. It is there that you will learn more about the unique characteristics of each type of Port, even next to the barrels where they grow old, protected from light and heat. Just amazing facilities from Calem in their "presentation space" or how could man call it... You could absorb small and well-organized pieces of information about wine production, written, highlighted and displayed on the glass plates, pictures, inscriptions, shelves, and everything you could grasp quickly just in one moment. The guide was funny and nice, but a bit hasty, I would've appreciated more personal commitment to the tour participants. I got the impression, that the presentation of the all information (winery, history of the wine, grapes) was not so structured and a bit messed up, could have had more order in it (but it wouldn't prevent you from enjoying the tour, just my thoughts) :)

We were there about 20 minutes before the actual tour and had plenty of time to inform us in the "museo" extensively about the winery. Very interesting. The disturbing thing about the tour was that the next group followed too fast and therefore at the beginning of the tour the two groups were too close to each other and we also heard the French version besides English. But then luckily changed. All in all a very good and informative tour, not least because of the guide.

Very high tech with colorful projectors. I thought it would be bigger, older. So from a few barrels of wood, there is nothing else. The guide explains in detail the history and the production therefore for the passionate ones. Explanation a bit long and with the accent, it's a little hard to understand. Tasting of 2 porto at the end, very good.
