Full description
Highly recommended for history lovers, this activity takes you to two islands connected with ancient mythology and the history of the Venetian occupation. Heading west from the Old Port of Chania, your first stop will be Agioi Theodoroi, an island that was used historically to defend the coast of Crete. Nowadays, it’s a protected area and a heaven for kri-kri, an elegant and endangered Cretan goat. Your group will drop anchor close to a German airplane wreck dated from WWII, and give you the opportunity to dive into the water to see it for yourself.   After approximately 40 minutes, you’ll head on to Lazaretto (or Lazaretta) island, a small island opposite Nea Xora. Clear waters rich in marine life combined with two beautiful sandy beaches make this the best place to end your trip. Relax on the island for 1 hour until the boat leaves back for Chania. On the way back, you’ll get panoramic views of the Old Venetian Harbour with its famous lighthouse and walled fortresses—an excellent view of what the city looks like from the sea.

From beginning to end, Manos was a terrific host. This trip was an awesome way to see Chania from a different vantage point, while also getting to explore a few beautiful and fascinating islands just off the Cretan coast. While I wouldn't say that the snorkeling is amazing, there are definitely enough cool fish and things to see underwater (and, it's extremely refreshing to swim in the Aegean) to make this trip well worth your while. You won't regret it!

Totally worth the money!! There was both fruit, sandwiches, vegetables and drinks. The guides were very engaged and welcoming and they generally just made the trip enjoyable. The plane wreck was exciting, and there were a huge number of beautiful fish to observe. After the trip, we were just about to book a new boat trip for the next day! So if you have to choose a boat trip from Chania, this one is a super good offer!

Very nice boat / snorkeling trip with some historical explanation from Captain Manos. We were lucky that the sea was calm, the water was crystal clear and the snorkeling was very beautiful. Especially Lazaretta is very nice to go snorkeling because of the many fish. A snack on the way, it was otherwise well arranged. So highly recommended.
