  • Ho Chi Minh City: Full-Day Tour of Cu Chi Tunnels

    1. Ho Chi Minh City: Full-Day Tour of Cu Chi Tunnels

Begin your one-of-a-kind historical experience in Ho Chi Minh City with a visit to the infamous Cu Chi Tunnels. Spanning a formidable 250 kilometers, Cu Chi is one of the most renowned historical sites of the Vietnam war.  The tunnel system was created in 1948 to assist the Viet Minh as they fought the French for independence. It became legendary during the 1960s for playing a pivotal role in the war by allowing the Viet Cong to control large rural areas just 65 kilometers away from Ho Chi Minh City. The elaborate tunnel system is made of clay mixed with laterite and consists of hospitals, kitchens, store areas, and working rooms, all of which you’ll get to explore completely underground. Later in the afternoon, visit some other major attractions in Ho Chi Minh City: the War Remnants Museum, the Reunification Palace, the Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Old Post Office, fascinating buildi...

  • Cu Chi Tunnels and 30 Minute Foot Massage

    2. Cu Chi Tunnels and 30 Minute Foot Massage

Be collected from your accommodation then head to Cu Chi. Along the way, watch as the frantic city scenery transitions into a more peaceful rural setting. See the rice paddy farms, quaint roadside vendors, and increasingly lush greenery.  Once you arrive, begin with a tour of the Cu Chi Tunnels, an underground network of pathways, hideouts, sleeping quarters, meeting rooms, hospitals, and Hoang Cam Stove. These narrow tunnels provide barely enough space for a single person to crawl their way through, though some are now wider to accommodate visitors. Learn that the mere 10 to 13 feet (3 to 4 meter) thick level of upper soil can support the bearing weight of a 55 ton (50 metric ton) tank and the explosive damage of bombs.  Watch an insightful film about the wartime experience before further exploring the tunnel's trap doors and underground quarters. Then make a visit to huge bomb crater...

The Cu Chi Tunnel Historical Site Tour will include visiting an American weapons gallery, and later on, even a bullet riddled tank. You will be shown a variety of ingenious and rather brutal booby traps used by the VC. Try to discover secret entrances hidden by fake termite mounds and other creative disguises. You’ll learn everything from how the kitchens fed up to 10,000 fighters in the tunnels (and how they disguised the smoke), to how they defended the tunnels from American bombs and infiltrators. You’ll even see the huge crater formed by an American B52 bomber. An of course, you’ll be able to explore the 1 meter high tunnels themselves. These tunnels have been enlarged slightly, but it can still be a pretty claustrophobic experience – imagine living down there for months. Fortunately, there are regular exits that al...

When we meet with local activities, the guide force us to pay a tip for local people. Then, guide pay local people by deducting the tip which we gave to local people. I arrived in Ho Chi Mihn City with a bad case of food poisoning. I spent two of my three days in the city recovering, so on the last day I decided to book this tour to make the most of my final day in the city. Mario was a great tour guide and I really got a great bang for my buck and time on this tour. There are some parts that feel a little touristy and cheesy, but overall it's a fun experience and I learned a lot.

My partner and I weren't interested in the full-day tour of just the cu chi tunnels, so this tour was a great compromise since we still got to see and learn about the tunnels, but we went through much faster than the other tour groups and then got to move on to see other neat things in the area. There were only 3 people in our group (including me and my partner), so it was essentially a private tour.
