Petra name came from the Latin word ‘petrae’ ,meaning ‘rock’, lies in a great rift valley east of Wadi Araba in Jordan about 80 kilometers south of the Dead Sea – 260Km to the south – South-west of Amman – Jordan Capital. It came into prominence in the late first BCE (BC) through the success of the spice trade. The city was the principal city of ancient Nabataea and was famous above all for two things: its trade and its hydraulic engineering systems. It was locally autonomous until the reign of Trajan, but it flourished under Roman rule. The town grew up around its Colonnaded. Following the flow of the Wadi Musa, the city-center was laid out on either sides of the Colonnaded Street on an elongated plan between the theater in the east and the Qasr al-Bint in the west. The quarries were probably opened in this period, and there followed virtually continuous building through the first and the second centuries CE.

We were picked up at the hotel by Ahmed Hussin, a very good driver and pleasant person, on the way to Petra, he showed us special places. We stayed at the hotel edom in wadi Musa, which we found luxurious. On the 2nd day, on Ahmed's advice, we were in Petra shortly after 6 o'clock, which we found nice, although we are not early risers: the day was still fresh, there was nice light and not many visitors. In the afternoon we were in Wadi Rum - it was fantastic there: the desert with the red sand and the rocks, the sunset, the hospitality in the camp, the starry sky, the tents, the food. The jeep tour on the 3rd day was special. Then it went back direction and still the impression of the Dead Sea. In the evening we were back in our hotel. We felt safe the whole time and it was fun with Ahmed.

We had a trip to Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead sea. Everything was perfect. Our driver and guide Ibrahim made the trip unforgettable. He gave us advices and information, some history too, we learned so much from him. And he made us feel comfortable in every situation. We could just relax and have all those nice experiences. He made the best out of every situation. I will never forget the meetings with those nice bedouin persons we met along the road. It was all just magic.

We would would highly recommend this experience.

The 3 day trip was awesome and we touched all the highlights of Jordan. From the Jordan valley to Petra, from Wadi Rum to floating on the dead sea, the three of us and our driver navigated with ease in a relaxing pace to allow us to enjoy the environment and lovely Jordanian people. We would would highly recommend this experience.

Tour from Amman to Petra very well organized; precision and punctuality; pity that bad weather and snow have impacted the programs and we have not been able to see Dana, but our driver / escort managed to organize in another way and not waste precious time

Jafar no. 1 It was a pleasure to travel with the legendary Jafar, 3 perfect days! we got upgrades to the desert camp for free! TOP!
