Full description
Visit the Nationale Nederlanden, also famously known as the Dancing House. This very noticeable building in the heart of Prague hosts an art gallery, a restaurant, and a bar with a rooftop terrace. Designed after Frank Gehry’s and Vlado Milunić’s bold plans in the 1990s, this quirky building has quickly become a people’s favourite. The art gallery located in the Dancing House presents exhibitions of the best contemporary Czech and world art. It focuses especially on promoting young talented artists and helps them to gain recognition in the local art scene, as well as putting them in the spotlight. The Dancing House Gallery offers guided tours, hosts lectures and discussions, and other professional activities to raise awareness about contemporary art. Currently, the gallery is hosting a large exhibition by the world-famous glassmaker, designer, and architect, Bořek Šípek. The gallery is showing almost three hundred different objects made by him from vases and decanters to chandeliers, lamps, chairs and libraries. The exhibition is divided into three parts, the first part of which uses a colored background to provide a new perspective on these unique works. The second part showcases a diverse array of typical glass objects. In the third part, prototypes of vases and never before seen glass objects are being shown. Once you are done walking through the gallery, take the elevator to the upper floor and enjoy complimentary entrance to the rooftop viewing terrace for breathtaking views over the city.

What I liked about buying this ticket is that I got to see something I didn't't really come to Amsterdam for and so the access to the gallery was great. In addition, as a photographer, having guaranteed access to the rooftop was also lovely. I don't think I needed the ticket per-se but since I was discovering the city, having a booking made it less stressful. I did end up having lunch at Ginger & Fred by the time I left. Overall it was a good experience and worth it if you plan on taking some photos up top.

The wonderful view from the roof terrace of the dancing house over the Vltava to Prague Castle can best be enjoyed with one of the cocktails on offer - also non-alcoholic.

The gallery was worth seeing. In order to get to the viewing platform, we were forced to have a drink with costs. It doesn't work that way.
