From Athens: Day Tour to Delphi
- Duration: 10 hours
The day tour to Delphi was great. The bus was spacious, easily recognizable at the pick-up point, and left on time. Our guide brought us into the archeological site and museum and provided the same commentary in English and French, and that's fine with us. Arachova was slightly disappointing compared to Delphi as we had only 15-20 minutes to walk around for photos before heading back to Athens. The other downside is that the restaurant where lunch was served is not near Arachova. As we did not order lunch, we could not use the one hour lunch break to walk around or explore that town.
Guide was excellent and fluent in English and French but I found it very annoying having to listen to the commentary twice in French and English as I’m sure the French people on our bus did listening to the commentary in English, the 2 groups should have been split as a French couple sitting on our table of English speakers for lunch spoke no English at all
The guide was good and provided interesting information. The group size was too big to make a tight enough circle around the guide to hear her. Also the pick up instructions should be clearer. There were 5-6 buses in the same area. Knowing the color of the bus and/or that the tour company name is displayed on the windshield would have been helpful to know.
Delphi Tour was very nice and the sites are more than amazing to see. Tour started with the pickup at our hotel and a couple of stops before entering Delphi. Tour guide was ok as her accent was a bit too difficult to understand. she gave us great insight on each archeological site, monuments and wall scripts. Free time around delphi was also quite nice.
My wife n I enjoy the day trip to Delphi very much. The place is very beautiful. The guide is rotating between English n what I suspect is Greek often. Which is disorienting for me. Also the lunch is self paid and food is served cold. I hv to tell the waiter to reheat the dish which waste me valuable lunch time.
