It’s a long day but if the weather is good then the views and scenery are amazing. The experiences en route are well planned and interesting. The only thing I would say is that if you are not as nimble as you once were then getting in and out of the mini bus is not the easiest.

Be prepared for a long initial drive to Douro Valley. A good 75 minutes even with our guide driving a good speed of 130-150 k/hr.. true. Excellent Driver. We toured two vineyards. Sandeman Vineyard Tour very good. Spectacular views. Second one was ok but not like the first one. Wine and Olive Oil tasting. Lunch was a traditional restaurant, lots of food and wine. Nothing fancy. Boat cruise was also nice for 45 minutes. Different views.

We had a great time with Carla who was our our private guide. She was passionate, very friendly, and knowledgeable about the Douro area and Porto in general. Douro valley is beautiful and a must visit if you are going to Porto. We went to Sandeman winery which was very enjoyable - the 30 year tawny is a must try! Pity we couldn’t visit more wineries! Carla introduced us to a fisherman village in Porto for seafood where we went the next day and was amazing. Great experience in general!
