Explore the stunning beauty of the Douro Valley on a tour to 2 wine estates. Make a quick stop at the town of Amarante and taste regional wines at both wine estates. Sit down to a delicious lunch before sailing through the lush landscapes of the Douro Valley on a river cruise. Begin your tour in Porto and learn about the region's history and wine while driving to the Douro valley. Stop for a coffee break in the historic town of Amarante and admire the town's Church and Convent of São Gonçalo, or purchase some of the pastries at one of the iconic pastry shops. Continue to a wine estate in Sabrosa. Enjoy a guided tour of a family-owned wine estate. Learn about and try the estate's wines during a guided tasting. Savor a lunch paired with red and white Douro wines while overlooking the vineyards. After lunch, drive to Pinhão, with a photo stop at São Cristovão viewpoint. Take in panoramic views of the Douro valley. See where the Pinhão river joins with the waters of the Douro River before embarking on a cruise at Pinhão.  In the afternoon, take a guided tour of a famous wine estate (Quinta da Roeda – Croft/Taylor’s group or Quinta São Luiz – Kopke/Burmester group). Uncover the history of the vineyard and the secrets if the wine-making processes. Taste their fine wines before returning to Porto by one of the world's most scenic roads, the N222.

In a healthful balance between Port tradition and new technologies, you will discover Douro region and Port wine – from “terroir” to the wine grapes, from the categories up to the aromas, trough our recently interactive museum, with personalized and intuitive access. In the guided visits to Cálem caves you will learn about the Douro Demarcated Region, know how the Port is produced and stay abreast of all the details of the history of this House. The cellars themselves remain active and visitable. It is there that you will learn more about the unique characteristics of each type of Port, even next to the barrels where they grow old, protected from light and heat. Then, you will be invited to a Cálem wine tasting: a white Port and a Tawny Port. With one of your guides, you will have the possibility to learn some more Port secrets and taste our wines.

Our first stop will be at a winery, where you will have the opportunity to learn about the winemaking process from an expert guide. As we continue our Douro Valley tour, a delicious lunch will be served at a charming local. After a delightful lunch, we will continue our tour to a second visit. Here, you will have the chance to further indulge your senses with more wine tastings and expand your knowledge of the region's winemaking traditions. Relax and enjoy the panoramic views of the vineyards, terraced hillsides, and charming villages that dot the landscape. Throughout the tour, an expert guide will share fascinating insights into the history, culture, and winemaking traditions of the Douro Valley. As we return to Porto, you will have a newfound appreciation for the exceptional wines crafted in this picturesque region, as well as the natural beauty that surrounds them. Visit the unparalleled Douro Valley, the first-denominated wine region in the world and a world heritage site by UNESCO. Start at the meeting point in Porto and embark on a scenic drive around the valley. Make a short stop at a viewpoint and then visit the first winery of the day. Try some red and white wines, olive oil, and other products. Pair everything with local bread, jelly, cheeses, and hams. Take a short walk through the vineyard, and learn about the work done during the season, such as pruning, grafting, and harvesting. Then, stop in Pinhão for a typical Portuguese lunch at a local tavern with 2 dishes, meat, and fish, as well as great options for vegans and vegetarians. After lunch, take a mini-cruise in a typical boat along the astonishing Douro Valley (please select the option with a 1-h boat cruise) with all the scenic views of the Porto Wine vineyards, terraces, and wineries as a background. The journey will continue through National 222, a road with more stunning views. Stop at the 2nd winery to learn about the region's famous Port wine, with tastings. Finally, we will return to Porto in the late afternoon.

You start from Pinhão, pass under the Eiffel iron bridge going up stream until the Tua area where you turn around and return to Pinhão. Along the way you’ll see hills of terraced vineyards until the river, with no national roads or traffic in sight. Although you do the same stretch up and down, it could very well be a different one, because seeing it in one direction and then on the other creates two completely different points of view and sights. The traditional rabelo boats have open and closed areas, so navigation can be comfortably made in all kinds of weather, all year long. Enjoy this small group tour from Porto to the Douro Valley by van. The Alto Douro Vinhateiro or Alto Douro Wine Region is an area of northeastern Portugal with more than 26,000 hectares classified by UNESCO on December 14, 2001 as a World Heritage Site in the category of cultural landscape, surrounded by mountains that give it particular mesological and climatic characteristics. This region, which is bathed by the River Douro and forms part of the so-called Douro Wine Region, has been producing wine for over 2,000 years, including the world-famous Port wine. Meet your guide at the Meeting Point in Oporto (Hotel pick-up option also available at an extra cost), sit comfortably in the VAN to start the journey to the Douro Valley (about 1h30min). The first pass by will be Régua - the capital of Port wine - where you can enjoy the mountainous hills with the River Douro in the middle. (Depending on the time of day, it may only be a pass by without a stop.) The first visit will be to a big-name estate - Quinta do Seixo - which belongs to Sandeman. Here you'll have the opportunity to take a guided tour of the inside of the winery and learn about the production methods, and you'll have the chance to enjoy the famous port wine. Afterwards, we'll go for lunch at a typical Portuguese restaurant where you can try some Portuguese cuisine (If you have any dietary restrictions, please mention them when booking). Jump back in the van to head for Pinhão. Relax on a 50-minute cruise on a typical Portuguese boat, the Rabelo, where the port wine used to be transported. We'll visit the last local producer, the Olive Oil Museum, where you can enjoy the table wines (red, rosé and white), almonds, honey and olive oil. We'll return to Porto and you'll be dropped off again at the meeting point or at the hotel (depending on the option purchased). Enjoy the natural beauty of the Douro Valley, every season of the year is a beautiful time to visit this region. In spring it's beautiful to see the almond trees in bloom, in autumn the predominant colors of the vineyards are brown and yellow. It's an unforgettable experience!
