Full description
Discover the diversity of one of the most beautiful national parks during a hiking tour through the Bastei and Malerweg regions in Saxon Switzerland. After a comfortable train trip (20 minutes) from Dresden main station to Pirna, you will take the bus to the Bastei bridge (20 minutes). From there you start the hiking tour. The guides will attend to you all the times, including during the train trip. The total hike is approximately 3.5 hours, 6.5 kilometers long including a short break (the entire trip including the transfers with bus and train is 5 hours). The level of difficulty is easy to average and the difference in altitude is approximately 160 meters downward. Along the spectacular and bizarre rock formations, you can enjoy the panoramic views over the romantic Elbe valley and experience the Bastei area with its unique beauty. During the tour you will see various kind of landscapes, such as Schwedenlöcher, which inspired famous painters such as Caspar David Friedrich. After a short break at Waterfall Amsel you will take a walk along Lake Amsel until Rathen. From here, will you take the ferry boat to the train station in Rathen and come back to Dresden. The harmonic interaction between history, fauna, and flora makes this tour perfect for those who love nature, history, and photography.

Start with problems. We were waiting on the bay. Street and went to the info at platform 3, but could not find a guide. The information stand only opened at 9 a.m., but TP was 8:45 a.m. The phone number on our voucher was only with an answering machine. When we finally had telephone contact, the train to Pirna was delayed. The guide was waiting for us there. From then on everything was great. A note: Please write clearly TP at the HBF at the information opposite track 3 and not Bayerische Strasse 12.

The female guide was great

Basically, the trip was nice. It consisted of two parts, the first part on the bastion and the descent to the "Sweden holes". The second part cannot be described as easy to medium. There were many elderly people in the group and the path was very slippery. You couldn't enjoy the landscape on this descent, because you had to be careful not to fall. Too bad.
