Full description
Taste traditional Emirati food, and learn more about life in the United Arab Emirates at a 1.5-hour cultural breakfast at the Sheikh Mohammed Center for Cultural Understanding (SMCCU) in Dubai. Located in a traditional wind tower house in the Al Bastakiya trading village of the Al Fahidi Historic District, the SMCCU was set up to raise awareness and demystify the local culture and customs of the United Arab Emirates. With an objective to improve cross-cultural understanding and communication between locals and guests, you will learn more about local life through award-winning cultural programs. Sample authentic Emirati dishes while chatting with your host about the traditions of the UAE. Sit in the courtyard of the SMCCU on traditional floor cushions. Taste Arabic coffee and dates, along with a variety of local dishes, including dessert. Ask your host or hostess any questions you have, following the SMCCU motto of “Open Doors, Open Mind.” Each experience is as unique as the questions you might want answers to. It was a very nice experience, learned a lot about the beautiful Arabic culture. Highly recommended, super delicious breakfast. We felt very comfortable from the first to the last minute. Of course we could ask any questions we wanted and we did. Of course as women, (there were four of us) the first question how many wives do you have mister? The nice gentleman spoke so calmly and explained everything to us and answered our 100 questions, it was superrrrrr!!!! Definitely do it if you are open to other cultures, we were fascinated by it.

    Absolute highlight!

A wonderful experience that brings you closer to the country and the culture and makes a major contribution to international understanding. There should be something like that everywhere, then maybe the world would be more peaceful. We were looked after very respectfully as guests, breakfast was great. One of our highlights in Dubai, which is much more than skyscrapers and beaches. Highly Recommended! Arriving by metro was not a problem.

Highly recommended. Learned a lot about Emirati culture.

We were a little late as arrived via metro and taxi. Taxi driver unsure of location even though we had address in english and Arabic (driver may have been from a different ethnic background?). Would be good if clear instruction how to get to the cultural centre via metro and walking... thanks.
