Full description

Enjoy a desert safari in Dubai. Ride a camel, enjoy exhilarating dune bashing, and have an authentic barbecue while enjoying traditional dance. Then stay overnight in a Bedouin tent, and go on a camel trek the next day.

After being collected from your hotel in a comfortable 4WD Land Cruiser, you will journey for approximately 60 minutes to the Lahbab desert. Once at the desert, you will take 20 minutes to break before your safari starts.

You can either relax here or opt to go for a quad-bike ride while your vehicle for the off-road dune drive is prepared. Then go for a dune bashing ride that lasts 30-45 minutes, and feel the excitement as your Land Cruiser climbs up and slides down the sand dunes.

Next, you can try sandboarding. Stand on the wooden board provided, balance yourself, and glide down over the sands. After sandboarding, head to Al Khayma, a Bedouin-type campsite, where you will be led to your own tent (Khayma) inside the camp. After settling in here, you can taste Gahwa (Arabic coffee), Gaymat (sweets), and dates as a sign of welcome.

Head out for a camel ride around the camp premises, and depending on the time and luck, view the sunset over the desert. Back at Al Khayma Camp, you can spend your time smoking shisha and henna painting.

Don local Arabian clothes and pose for photos with a falcon, and at the camp center stage, a Tanoura dance will be performed. Enjoy a lavish buffet dinner full of barbecue dishes, while on the stage, a belly dancer will keep you entertained. Following dinner, you will be taken by camel to a nearby camp area where a fire will be arranged for you. Learn how to make Arabic coffee/tea, whilst you relax in the night sitting by the campfire, enjoying the silence of the desert and the dark sky above.

Your desert guide will add to the fun with interesting desert stories, and when it’s time to sleep, you will return to the camp. You will retire back to your tent for a comfortable sleep atop a Nawar bed (Bedouin-style bed), complete with a pillow and blanket. The following morning, wake up 15 minutes before sunrise to witness a spectacular view. Your guide will take you to the desert with a camel caravan that is waiting outside the camp.

Then go camel trekking for about 15-20 minutes, capturing the nice view of the sunrise over the sand dunes. After camel trekking, you will return to your tent before eating a freshly cooked Arabian breakfast.

Later, you will be driven back to Dubai and dropped off at your accommodation.

I would say that this experience was the highlight of my Dubai trip. I checked off bucket list items that weren't even there before, like sand boarding, dune bashing and handling the falcon! Sleeping overnight in the desert and riding the camal (twice!) were on my list, but are now ticked off. The food was delicious and plentiful, the campground and sleeping tent were amazing and our driver/guide, Imran was fabulous. He was in touch with me about my pickup, which was very helpful to me, and he is an excellent driver and dune basher! He was there to take pictures for me at every point in the adventure, so I have wonderful images to show my friends and family at home. The campground, itself, wasn't far enough from the lights of the city to be able to have a star-filled desert sky but other than that, the trip was perfect! Thanks, Imran, for all you did to make this a memorable event!

I loved everything about the experience. My guide Imran was really nice and took the best care of us. The Dune Bashing and sandboarding is really fun and Imran always made sure we are okay. The desert camp was beautiful and I liked that it wasn't too touristic as opposed to a different camp that I visited too. The food was delicious and so was the local tea/coffee. I loved the Shisha lounge, especially because we had it all to ourselves once the non-overnight guests left. The bed in the tent is comfortable as well and there is everything you need. Sleeping in the desert and the sunrise the next day was just magical and I will for sure come back next time I'm in Dubai!

Great trip with a diverse set of activities included. Staff was mostly quite friendly and the food served did also exceed expectations. The night was also quite ok, besides of the temperature (but if that's a problem, you shouldn't go on such a trip amyways). Also, due to summer and prob covid, the camp was quite empty over the night, which meant no noise.
