Really easy to buy and use, all staff were very helpful, got a really good sense of the geography and key facts about the city and felt like you ‘knew’ Edinburgh a lot more at the end than the beginning, which is kind of the point ☺️ Would recommend doing at the beginning of your stay so you can orientate yourself (Also key tip - we were able to get same day castle tickets from one of the ticket touts / helpers when they were sold out for days on the castle website

The red bus drivers were great so helpful. Went on the green one for the live commentary it was ok but a bit boring compared to others I’ve been on over the years. I went with a friend and had told her how good the live commentary was so was a bit disappointed

We arrived by train at Edinburgh Waverley station and walked to St Andrew’s Square where our tour bus was waiting. The bus was clean and quite busy but we found a seat upstairs easily. Audio commentary was easy to understand and interesting too. The route took one hour. We got off at Grassbanks to visit the market where I bought some gorgeous badges and a lady’s sporran (!) that had ties to go around the waist but which could also be used to to turn the sporran into a cross body bag. Bargain. Went in search of a cup of tea and found one facing the market (painted bright blue and adjacent to the building with a long swathe of lilac & purple flowers (like a peacock’s tail). Visited the cafe’s bathroom: spotlessly clean; soap dispenser; hot & cold water; hot air hand dryer. Excellent service too. The cafe is called Cafe Jacques, 10 Grassmarket, Edinburgh EH1 2JU
