Mendoza: High Mountain and Aconcagua Park Tour with BBQ

1. Mendoza: High Mountain and Aconcagua Park Tour with BBQ

We invite you to live a full high mountain adventure in Mendoza! In this tour, you will have the opportunity of hiking inside the great Aconcagua Provincial Park to visit the Horcones Lagoon. And in the same day, you will visit different historical sites of the Andes mountain range route: Cacheuta, Potrerillos Dam, Uspallata and Puente del Inca (Inca Bridge). Next, learn all about the history of the Andes before stopping back at Uspallata to enjoy a traditional Argentinean BBQ. We recommend it to those who are looking for the experience of hiking in Aconcagua, combined with a tour of the main tourist attractions along the route, all in one day! It is ideal for people of different ages and fitness levels because this is a low-intensity activity.

From Mendoza: Trekking and Barbecue in the Andes

2. From Mendoza: Trekking and Barbecue in the Andes

Start with a two-hour drive to the beginning of the trek in the Andes front range called "Cordon del Plata". On the way, you will be able to see the Cacheuta Village and Potrerillos dam. You will experience a full day regional tour. The activity will begin in the Front Mountain Range -at 2,400 meters above sea level- with a low-difficulty 3-hour hike. During the tour we will get to know the typical way of life of the locals, with their livestock and their pace of life, so different from that of the city. We will also see local wildlife: condors, guanacos and foxes. And as we reach higher altitudes, we will be amazed by the great views of Potrerillos, its dam and the pre-mountain range. Anything else? Of course, here is the best part: upon finishing the hike, we will arrive at the authentic mountain hut of Daniel, our gaucho friend. There we will be welcomed for a delicious asado criollo, with the best Argentinean meat. Although if you would rather not eat meat, all you have to do is say so, and we will prepare a vegetarian menu for you which –we are not lying– is so tasty that we always have to plan some extra servings… because there is no one who won’t have it! And the must-try: we will serve our asado with pure-bred Mendoza wine. Hiking and barbecue Mendoza is recommended to everyone. As it is a low-intensity hike, it does not exclude anyone: families and/or people with no previous experience can join us, and they will undoubtedly enjoy the whole experience.

Joaquín was the best guide you could ask for! A perfect mix of broad knowledge about the mountains, funny stories from his previous time as a mountain guide and about the country itself made the day absolutely stunning and special for us. He managed to bring us to Aconcagua before all the bigger groups arrived so we were able to experience the parc in absolute silence, something that you would never experience in the Alps (where we are from). After this day we felt like we have met a new friend and we hope to come back to Mendoza one day and be able to have a BBQ or another tour with him. It’s been over a year now (we traveled in May 2022) but we still talk about our tour all the time, that’s why we finally wanted to thank Joaquín here on Get Your Guide, helping others to find him as their perfect guide! Muchas gracias Joaquín, maybe you remember us as well 😊 Best, Sarah and Max from Germany

The tour - which turned out to be a private tour by car only for our family - was excellent, with excellent organization. The guide Cristiano was superb, told us a lot about the places we were visiting and about the history of Argentina. It was a nice surprise that we were provided with a small breakfast, and then with snacks and water for the walk in Acocangua. The price includes also a dinner with wine in a traditional Argentinian parilleria. Very highly recommended:-)

The trip was fantastic. My guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating.

Everything is good. I appreciate the effort and kindness of the vanina guide
