Cham Island: Snorkeling Tour
- Transportation included
- Duration: 8 hours
excellent IF you pay attention to following: 1. go in your swim ware: there s no place for changing. you ll go from boat to sea and the boat is full barely space to stand let alone change clothes. you will dry by the time you r back at the port. 2. take your own snorkeling kit if possible for adults and definitely for small children. 3. bring water especially if you are with kids. 4. bring some first aid stuff: small container of disinfection liquid, clean cloth, waterproof bandage (plaster) (this one is a most), a pain killer. 5. if you bring a bag make sure it s water proof as it ll be drenched. Plastic bags are not allowed on the island so put m inside your bag if you bring them. don't bring any valuables except few money (for drinks/dessert at lunch which r not included). 6. if you do under water walking with kids bring (better come waring it) water shoes. 7. be careful, boat is old and so many steel edges and ladder joints where you could pinch your skin. (esp. kids). ENJOY.
An unbelievable experience interacting with fish and coral about five miles off the Vietnamese Coast. Ourr leader Jimmy was very fluent in English and guided our group through the experience, preparing us for something none of us could have had experience with. It's hard to explain but the highlight is walking on the ocean floor attached to a oxygen lifeline. No diving experience is necessary because they rely a special helmet placed over your head and on your shoulders that provides you with oxygen effortlessly and keeps the water out. Anyone can have the experience of course you this thing with the marine life during this underwater Odyssey. It does take a bit of Courage to trust the equipment, but it's worth taking the dive! Did I mention lunch is provided on another Island? An incredible array of Thai food!
Wonderful trip by boat to Cham Island from Houston An dock took about 50 min. Jimmy was a great tour leader and kept us informed of all the activities. Anchored and went snorkeling for 30 min - very wonderful coral - many varieties. Lots of small fish and amazing colorful starfish. Then the hi-light sea walking. What an unbelievable experience. Lots of fish to see and the diving hood was very easy and comfortable. Our safety diver was great and he took super videos. Then took a ride in a basket boat - how do they do this. Lots of fun. On to another beach for a wonderful lunch and more swimming and relaxing. Water was very comfortable temperature. 50 min back to House An for a wonderful day. Again Jimmy was great and the boat crew very friendly and helpful. 5 star day!!!
Absolutely loved the snorkeling. You get to see a preserved coral reef and all the many types of fish that come with it up close and personal. You then get to go underwater walking, which is where you put on a helmet that provides you with oxygen, and you climb down a ladder to the sea floor just 15 or so foot below the boat. You walk along holding a railing and are given bread into your hand by your skubadiving guide, at which point hundreds of fish swarm around you to nibble away. This is followed by an amazing seafood buffet and some time to relax in hammocks by the sea, or go swimming some more. A well organised and worth while trip! 10/10
We went with an open mind. We enjoyed the old boat ride over which was nice and relaxing. We went up top. The water was a little murky but once the sun can out it was beautiful to swim in the ocean. We only did the snorkeling as a family of 4. (10yr, 12yr) After an hour and half of snorkelling we jet boated to another part of the island. It was beautiful. The lunch was very average but again we didn’t mind and I took snacks for the kids so we weren’t too fussed. The speed boat ride back was fast and furious. We made it back fine and it was a very enjoyable day all round. Thanks.
