Our insider tips

When should I go?

Depending on what you want to see, Hawaii is a top destination year round. If you’re looking for sunshine, visit from April to September. Rainy season from November to March coincides with whale watching season. This is a popular time of year to visit, as you are almost guaranteed to see whales.

What's the weather like?

Unsurprisingly, very warm - no wonder Hawaii is such a popular vacation destination! However, depending on the side of the island you are on, you will experience very different temperatures and weather. This unique terrain offers sunny beaches to the west, tropical showers to the north, and some freezing cold weather on the top of the craters such as Haleakala. Pack alternative clothing if you're going on an excursions.

How long should I stay?

Although in terms of land area it's one of the smallest US states, it's not necessarily easy to get around Hawaii in a small amount of time - there are quite a few islands with so much to see. If you'd like to get a lot out of your trip, plan two weeks and stay at least three days per island.

What people are saying about Hawaii

This crew was absolutely amazing. I was blown away at their concern over the animals and reminding us (the novice that can't wait to swim with the dolphins) that we are in their home. Wait, slow down, the dolphins will come to you! That was their mantra. My husband and I really appreciated it. The crew was also very accommodating and friendly to everyone on the boat. The pointed out whales to us in the distance and a couple times even worked to get near one or two. We traveled the end of Feb, 2020 so it was still whale season. The crew also assisted everyone with getting in and out of the boat and clear their masks. (We got in the water 5 times) They even had extra masks and snorkels if anyone's wasn't working out for them.

We loved our whale watching experience. We were fortunate enough to become part of a Maui Mugging! A mother whale and her baby approached our boat and four adult males pursued. We were captured on the ocean for over an hour watching a magnificent display of mother nature in the making. Captain Robert was also so kind to personally send us some pictures he had taken of us with whales in the background. AMAZING!

Awesome ride with captain Geri who had some great choice in music!! Also got to see humpback whales who were playing in the water not far from the shore of Waikiki Beach. Fireworks were amazing to watch from the water .. I highly recommend booking.

The tour was great. The food was good and the drinks were always flowing. The staff had great energy and made sure everyone was happy and served everyone promptly. The sunset was so beautiful and we had the bonus of seeing spinning dolphins.

The experience was great. It would have been helpful to know that we can only have the lotion based sunscreens and better directions for how to get there.
