Full description
Discover Lisbon and Sintra through the eyes of a local on a full-day drive in a VW Beetle convertible. See places that you won't necessarily find in a guidebook on this tour that’s priced for a group of up to 3 persons and Boost Driver/Storyteller. See Mouraria or Alfama as well as the more cosmopolitan districts of Chiado and Príncipe Real. Take a stroll around the open streets of downtown Pombaline, and then head to Belém to see its awe-inspiring monuments, where the empire is still an architectural reality. You’ll then take a ride to the mountains to visit Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Admire the 19th-century Romantic architecture, including the many castles, estates and palaces built in the area. Next to Cascais, once a small fishermen village, now a haven of beauty and glamour by the Atlantic. From there you'll drive through the Avenida Marginal (a Portuguese national road that connects the city of Lisbon to the village of Cascais, lining the Tagus River and the Atlantic Ocean) until you reach Lisbon’s city centre. During your excursion, stop to taste an authentic Portuguese Liquor and pastry. After 7 hours of stunning experiences you will always keep Lisbon in your heart. During the tour you will see: • Sintra Historic Centre: Built at the foot of the mountain, in a sloping area this fairy tale location grew between the National Palace and the mountain, adapting itself, through successive modifications, to the slopes and the morphology of the ground. • Regaleira Palace: Classified as a Building of Public Interest since 2002 this Palace is surrounded by lush gardens, lakes, grottoes and enigmatic constructions with hidden alchemical meaning. • Seteais Palace: A neoclassical palace that is now a luxury hotel, restaurant and a tourist attraction, listed as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. • Monserrate Palace: Like the other Palaces in the region, this is an example of Portuguese Romanticism and since 1978 it has been classified as a Building of Public Interest. • Azenhas do Mar: A viewpoint from where we can admire a stunning view of the cliffs looming over the full majesty of the Atlantic Ocean. • Cabo da Roca: The westernmost point of Europe where the land ends and the sea begins. • Citadel of Cascais: A set of fortifications built between the 15th and 17th centuries to defend the Cascais coastline and River Tagus estuary. Today it houses a luxury hotel – the Pestana

Our guide Sandro was super punctual and very friendly, funny and competent. He completely adjusted to our wishes and gave us the impression "I have time for you". It was a great day that we will surely remember forever. Sandro drove us to a very good restaurant and we could enjoy delicious fish with exquisite wine. He was just waiting. I can only recommend this tour with this friendly guide. Sandro spoke very good English, so it wasn't a problem for us that we didn't have a German-speaking guide, even though we booked it. He also delighted us with a great port wine at every stop. Only the Beetle Cabriolet was very old and almost too small for 3 small women.

Everything was fantastic... the car, the places, the weather. Our guide Luis was very kind and appassionate and we really enjoyed the day.

Driver was very good but just drove us to the various locations

I had expected that the driver was also a guide that would guide us through each location, and that tickets to visit the various locations mentioned were also included. Driver was good but it was extremely expensive considering that we then had to purchase entrance tickets additional which was not clearly specified in the advert. It was just hiring a car and driver for the day, no entrances to the sites, or guided tours through the sites.
