My whole family really enjoyed this tour. We were pick up at our hotel and driven to our tour of oak alley. Our driver was very friendly and shared great stories of New Orleans. Oak Alley plantation itself is beautiful and the staff were very knowledgeable about the history of the plantation and slavery. We left Oak Alley with a far better understanding of the tragedies slavery. I reccomend having lunch at the restaurant on the plantation grounds and visiting the gift shop as well. After the plantation tour we were bussed to the swamp tour location. The Swamp tour was absolutely amazing with a great tour guide. Our tour guide was a Louisiana man through and through, he knew his stuff about the bayou and was very funny. You're going to see some gators! After a full day of adventure, it was nice to sit back and be driven back to our hotel in a air conditioned van with a great driver. I definitely recommend the combo tour.
This tour was well worth the trip. Oak Alley is a beautiful home and the huge oak trees are spectacular. With touring the home, viewing the grounds and peripheral buildings, time for lunch was limited so plan accordingly. While Laura is the smaller of the two homes, it was perhaps the most interesting and enjoyable. Both tour guides were knowledgeable and interesting. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area.
The driver Alton was great, he made the drive enjoyable and informational. I would have liked more time than the 2 hrs allotted. Further for the price asked comparable to experience I think it was a bit too high. If something else was added like a discount ice cream or meal that would've helped.
The tour was very efficient from start to finish. it was a great experience however I just wish we had been given an extra hour to get around all the exhibits. We only had an hour and a half to get around everything and with a queue for the main house tour we ended up missing other exhibits.
The passes were easy to pick up on Canal Street. I went to each place the cards were scanned with no problem. Everyone was friendly, open, and very accommodating! One thing if you do the swamp tour, and want to go early in the morning call ahead. Reservations recommend there!
