Experience what it feels like to walk on ice on a hike across the outlet glacier of Vatnajökull. Brave Europe's largest glacier to get breathtaking views of the Skaftafell area.
Meet your guide at the visitor center to collect all the necessary safety equipment. Put on your harness, crampons, ice axe, and helmet, and jump aboard the shuttle bus for the 10-minute ride to the glacier. Get tips on how to put on and walk in your crampons, and learn the basic techniques of ice climbing.
Challenge gravity as you climb up walls of ice, and hike around the glacier. Learn how it was formed, and its fascinating history, including its recent use as a film location for movies such as Interstellar, Batman Begins, and the epic TV series Game of Thrones.
