4. San Diego: 2-Day Wine Tasting Trip in Valle de Guadalupe
Discover Valle de Guadalupe and Mexico on a 2-day wine-tasting tour from San Diego. Visit Casa Pedro Domecq's museum and sensory room, enjoy an authentic Mexican breakfast at Correcaminos restaurant, and taste wine at several wineries.
Day 1
Meet your driver and head south to Mexico. After crossing the border, stop at Casa Pedro Domecq. Stroll through its small museum and sensory room, where you can learn about the aromas and colors of wine.
Next, head to Quinta Monasterio for your first wine tasting. Try 5 wines: a white, a rosé, and 3 reds before exploring the nearby open area attached to a mountain full of boulders.
Enjoy a delicious meal of Morrocan food at Kous Kous. Try their specialty dish, tajine, while taking in a beautiful view of the valley. After the meal, check in to your hotel. If you like, go for a hike or relax with a massage in your room (not included).
Day 2
Begin your day with breakfast at Correcaminos Restaurant. Enjoy authentic Mexican breakfasts such as Chilaquiles, refried beans, huevos rancheros, and mole enchiladas.
After you finish eating, head out for your first tasting of the day at Clos de Tres Cantos winery, owned by a philosopher. As you stroll through the winery, see how the monastery-like architecture and wines reflect the philosophy of the owner. Try wines called "Nothing," "Doubt," and "Resilience."
Continue to Finca la Carrodilla winery, an organic winery. Taste a white, a rosé, and a red before strolling around the terrace and biodynamic orchid.
Finish with lunch at Fauna, listed as the 2nd best restaurant in Mexico before heading back to San Diego. Along the way, stop at Tecate, Otay, or San Ysidro, depending on how busy the border crossings are.
