Leave the traditional Lisbon and Sintra tours, and join this private tour to Mafra to discover a magnificent building that was only possible due to the Brazilian gold that poured into the country, allowing King João V to carry out the building of the biggest baroque palaces from the 18th century. Your private full-day tour begins with a pick-up at your Lisbon accommodation and a drive to Mafra, where you’ll visit the Mafra National Palace. On a tour of the palace you’ll visit the library, considered to be one of the most beautiful in the world. Mafra’s grandiose palace-monastery defies description. Ordered by King João V in 1717 to celebrate the birth of his first child, it was reputedly designed to compete in magnificence with the Spanish royal palace. The overwhelming architectural details include over 5000 doorways, 2500 windows, 880 rooms, 154 grandstaircases, 29 courtyards, and 330...

João V in the first half of the 19th century as the result of a vote that the young king made if Queen D. Maria Ana of Austria gave him descendants. Mafra's greatest treasure is its library, with a collection of more than 40,000 books with gold-bound leather bindings, including a first edition of Luís de Camões's Os Lusíadas. Your tour will then progress towards the beautiful fishing village of Ericeira, which is very close to Sintra and Mafra. Its center, which is older and more typical, allows visitors to walk through narrow winding streets that reflect back to older times. Its connection to the sea is undeniable, even by the immense ocean that serves as a backdrop to the houses. The Ericeira Cliffs that meander along the shores of Ericeira Beach also give it a uniq...

They came to pick us up at the hotel where we were staying in a timely manner, but to our surprise our guide, Paula, showed us that the guide who made the visit in Spanish had become ill and that she would visit her, although she did not speak good spanish. We were only visiting for what we did on a tour with Mrs. Paula, a super friendly person, who demonstrated her extensive knowledge about Lisbon, and had a good level of Spanish, getting us to spend an unforgettable day in Lisbon. Thank you.
This is a very good choice if you're only in Lisbon for around 3 days. You get to see parts of Lisbon that for sure you wouldn't see if going alone. We had Marcos as our guide and he is really good. He has a vast knowledge of Lisbon and the surroundings, he's friendly and his English is pretty good :) Because we liked this tour with Marcos, we also booked the tour to Sintra, Cabo da Roca and Cascais which was excellent!
