Barcelona: Dali Museum, House and Cadaques Guided Tour

1. Barcelona: Dali Museum, House and Cadaques Guided Tour

This full-day tour from Barcelona follows in the tracks of the surrealist genius Salvador Dalí, exploring the landscape that inspired his art. You’ll visit his favourite haunts and secret hideaways, as well as the legendary Dali Museum at Figueres and his former home near Cadaqués. Go from Barcelona to Figueres, where you’ll visit Dalí’s birthplace and the extraordinary museum dedicated to his work. Dalí wanted visitors to see his massive collection as a “whole,” so there are no catalogues and the work is not displayed in any organized manner. From Sep 1st - Jun 30th, the tour continues to the beautiful coastal village of Cadaqués, famous for its whitewashed Mediterranean houses and narrow streets. With its charming bay, it is one of the most picturesque villages on the Costa Brava. What is particularly stunning is the dramatic scenery on the drive there. For lunch, you can enjoy local seafood specialties at one of the numerous terraces, or grab a sandwich and relax on the beach. You’ll soon understand why Cadaqués inspired Dalí and so many other artists. Travel up the coast to the smaller village of Port Lligat, where Dalí sought the peace and quiet that truly inspired him.  From Jul 1st - Aug 31st, the tour leaves Figueres for a delightful medieval coastal town where you can find lunch in one of the many local or traditional restaurants, before heading to Pubol Castle, once the home of Dalí and his wife Gala, located in the village of the same name.

After meeting up at your bus, you will take the motorway before arriving in Calella de Palafrugell at around 9:45 AM. Later, start walking along Camino de Ronda, which is going to lead you to the neighborhood town of Llafranc. You will then hike for about 30 minutes over terrain which is easy to navigate for everyone. The “Camino de Ronda” borders all the Costa Brava, and was used to control maritime smuggling. Today, thanks to this, you can discover beautiful spots that wouldn’t be otherwise accessible Heading back to the bus, you will go onward to Pals, a town located inland on the top of a hill. The location is entirely built into an ancient Medieval village, and the enclosure is crowned with a cylindrical tower from the 12th century. It also has an excellent terrace that offers stunning views of the Costa Brava and its immediate surroundings. Walking through the cobbled streets, you will feel like you have gone back in time. In the afternoon, arrive at Figueres where you can enjoy an hour and a half to grab lunch (own expense). We have been to Cali museum in St Petersburg and digital immersions. This is more; not just a series of works; the entire construction is somehow calculated to nudge you into Daliland. Cadaque is fabulous as well. Sergio is an excellent guide. He achieves a nice balance between providing detailed biographical background and symbolism, while encouraging clients to enjoy it all as they will. He took the time while we were wandering the house connected to answer some obscure questions I had about the bedroom furniture.

Enrico was an excellent guide. Before we arrived at the museum, we had a good overview of Dali and his work, including the art of surrealism. lots of time to wander the museum and form our own views. A highlight of the trip was sunset at the Cap de Creus. fantastic.

The Dali museum is a must see! Our guide Cam was excellent! Extremely knowledgeable! He gave us the complete history on the drive there which was great to make the long drive pass by quickly.

Wonderful tour! Our guide, Ruben, was great. He was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about Girona, Catalonia and Salvador Dali. We got some great photos too!
