Berlin: Street Art and Alternative Tour

7. Berlin: Street Art and Alternative Tour

The alternative culture of Berlin is linked to the peculiar history of the city during the Cold War. On this tour you will understand why Berlin has become the central point of the alternative and how alternative culture and urban art have been a fundamental basis for the 90s revival of the city. Wade through the historical, economic and social changes that followed the fall of the wall (1989) up to the current phase of gentrification. The walls of the city are a canvas for “paintings” and the streets are transformed into an art gallery. Gigantic works sprout between the buildings of the districts of Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain, small pieces of art wedged into corners, hidden in the courtyards and along the streets of the Mitte district. On the border between east and west, along the wounds of the wall, between art and politics. See the colors and stories of Berlin in the areas of urban art.

8. Berlin Reunited and Revived! 3-Hour Alternative Tour

Discover how the once dilapidated and divided German capital became the “poor but sexy” capital of cool. The artistic hub of Berlin in the 90s, Prenzlauer Berg now attracts an influx of upwardly mobile young professionals and families. Visit the Kulturbrauerei; an old brewery that has been refurbished into a center for culture and the arts, mirroring the metamorphosis that continues in East Berlin today. Head to the alternative districts of Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg, where left-wing residents continue to stave off attacks from corporate businesses and rent-raising landlords. Also even if we needed to walk and take a subway it wasn't a problem as we became a big group of friends and we even had a lot fun togerher in the train. And we talked alot on our way to each club so I didnt feel anything not nice from this tour.
