Get back to nature in the volcanic landscapes of Fuerteventura and marvel at mountains formed more than 50,000 years ago. Make your way to the Calderón Hondo volcano on well marked roads, and look into the crater of one of the best-preserved volcanoes on the island. Take in the breathtaking vistas from the summit, and stroll around the rim of the crater. See the village of Lajares and the "Malpais" area formed by volcanic eruptions. Encounter native wildlife, such as squirrels and small raptors, along with black crows and goats grazing at the edge of the crater.

We transferred to the extended tour of North Fuerteventura. We were picked up in a minivan, together with one other couple and visited some of the highlights of the island. Our guide was attentive while giving us space at the same time. Especially the volcano is a must see if you are in the neighborhood. The hike up the volcano is not very far (about 15 minutes), but the last part is quite steep with loose and sharp rocks, so make sure you wear the right shoes.

Calderón hondo, spectacular! Once you get to the crater, you will go all the way around (equipped matches, which is not very difficult, but it is not easy to move among the volcanic rocks either) and from the top, you will have a sensational view. The guide, Alfredo, was super! Extremely available and prepared to answer any curiosity. Definitely recommended

As expected based on reviews I read here. Alfredo picks you up and drives to the volcano, nice guy and very informative about Fuerteventura and the other canaries. Answered all curious questions. He offered to do some drone footage for a bit extra which would've been cool if it was more sunny and less windy on the day. Walking round the crater is a little treacherous so we only did about 25% as you get most the value after that! Alfredo took some good photos of us. Popped down to Lajares after for a nice cake and drink and then home. Quite a time efficient excursion and short climb, perfect if you wanted to do more than 1 excursion on the day!
