On this exceptional cultural and gustatory experience, you will be taken to off the beaten track to sample amazing traditional food from Madeira while sipping a glass of Madeira wine or a cup of Portuguese tea.  The tour starts in the charming historic center with a qualified tour guide who has many years of experience. Your guide will explain the historical and cultural details of the city as well as the traditions behind each dish, which will surely enrich the tour. Depart Funchal and journey to the Pico dos Barcelos to experience one of Madeira's unique viewpoints. Get a breathtaking view of all points of the island, before making your way up to Eira do Serrado. Admire the surrounding chestnut trees and eucalyptus plants of the natural wonderland. The ancient footpaths are still used by locals and tourists, and the narrow road and tunnels can still be seen.  From an altitude of 1,094 meters above sea level, see across to the Nuns Valley. Isolated from the rest of the island, the Nuns Valley is surrounded by lava rock and takes its name from the nuns that once inhabited the valley as they fled from pirate attacks during the 16th century. Try some traditional chestnut cake and pastries only found in the region, along with different traditional liquors. Then, go to Monte, one of Madeira´s old tourist stops, and visit the church where the tomb of the Emperor Charles I of Austria can be found.  Add a little adventure to the day and enjoy an unforgettable 2-kilometer toboggan ride down the old road of Livramento, where the bus will pick you up at the bottom.

Depart Funchal and travel to the vineyards of Câmara de Lobos, Madeira's main wine region. Meet a local producer to learn how fortified wine is made. Continue along the north coast to San Vicente and marvel at the natural beauty of the landscape. Stop at a local house to enjoy a typical meal of local ingredients with wine pairings. Get spectacular views of the north coast, vineyards, and unique laurel forests before visiting a modern winery in Porto Moniz. Try a white wine acclaimed for its acidity and tropical aroma. Sample a selection of rosés and reds before making your way back towards the south coast and Funchal. Enjoy one last stop at a winery along the way to taste some very special wines from Madeira. Admire the sunset from Madiera's third-highest peak on a private or shared tour from Funchal to Pico do Arieiro. Stargaze using telescopes with a smartphone adapted to record what you find in the night sky, and enjoy a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic with a charcuterie board. Following pickup at your accommodation, head directly to Pico do Arieiro at an altitude of 1,818 meters where you can enjoy the sun setting in one of the island's most beautiful settings. Before settling into your ideal viewing spot, enjoy time to walk around Pico do Arieiro to explore the peaks before it gets dark or to visit some of the area's popular viewpoints. Have a unique experience and climb aboard a convincing replica of Christopher Columbus’s original vessel the Santa Maria, built right here on lush Madeira Island. Enjoy a time-travelling journey back to the 15th century, and walk along the southern coast of the island before reaching Cabo Girão. There, stop for a refreshing swim in the azure waters off the coast. Explore the diverse landscapes of Madeira on a half-day open roof 4x4 tour from Funchal. Following a pick-up from your hotel (available from accommodations in Funchal Central Area and Funchal Port), drive to Boca dos Namorados approximately 305 meters (1,000 feet) above sea level. Situated in the Sitio da Corrida, it’s one of the most important landmarks of the Jardim da Serra. Admire Nun’s Valley and Downtown Funchal from afar. Continue to the viewpoint of Boca da Corrida in the parish of Jardim da Serra, the upper part of Câmara de Lobos. Get a magnificent view over the Nun’s Valley and the central massif of Eira do Serrado, the start point for the Caminho Real Encumeada. Continue to Jardim da Serra for a coffee break, and taste some authentic poncha (an alcoholic drink made from distilled sugar cane juice, mixed with honey, lemon rind and fruits). Sample some other local drinks before going to the last panoramic viewpoint at Cabo Girão, situated on the highest promontory in Europe. Depart Funchal by open 4WD vehicle and journey to one of the island's most impressive views. Go to Cabo Girão on the southern coast, where a glass-floored viewing platform was installed in October 2012 and the Cabo Girão Skywalk is the highest in Europe. Marvel at hues of intense depth and clarity, enhanced by the constant light of a warm and inviting sun. Stargaze with our own Telescope and check out the marvellous sky canvas and film it with your own smartphone as we have a smartphone adapter equipped on our Telescope. If the weather/visibility conditions aren´t the best we change the tour to the West tip of the Island, the Lighthouse of Ponta do Pargo in Calheta where we can enjoy a great sunset as well.
