From Funchal, head to the north side of the island, passing through Ribeiro Frio, surrounded by beautifully evergreen mountains. Drive uphill to Pico do Areeiro at 6,000 feet, where you can enjoy magnificent landscapes and great views over the whole island and even Porto Santo.  The jeep tour will continue to visit a traditional rum distillery in Porto da Cruz. Then, stop at Pico do Facho viewpoint, where you can take in amazing views over Ponta de São Lourenço. Afterwards, drive off road to one of the most emblematic areas of the island, Santana, known for its triangular shaped houses which have served locals for centuries as dwellings and stables. Head then downhill through Morena for astonishing views over the southeast of the island.
