Full description

Day 1

Through the Trossachs to Oban… This wide-ranging tour starts by heading west through the beautiful scenery of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park to Kilmartin Glen. Here you’ll explore Scotland’s ancient past. With over 5,000 years of history laid out before you, you’ll be able to walk in the footsteps of the first Scots at Dunadd Hill Fort and the Temple Wood Stone Circle. Then it’s on to the picturesque seaside town of Oban. Overnight stay in Oban

Day 2

A day of high hills and history… Day two takes you through the haunting landscape of Glen Coe (scene of the terrible massacre of the MacDonald Clan) past Ben Nevis (Britain’s tallest peak) and Fort William. Then, stop to view the Glenfinnan Viaduct, made famous by the Harry Potter films, and hopefully get a chance to see the steam train cross it, also known as the Hogwarts Express. You will also be able to see Glenfinnan Monument. Overnight stay in Kyleakin

Day 3

A Whole Day to explore Skye... You'll have the whole of the third day to explore Skye's mysteries and landscape. Here the mountains and beaches beckon, so lose yourself amongst the spectacular scenery of the Cuillin Mountains, the slanting hills of Quiraing and the incredible Trotternish Peninsula. Overnight stay in Kyleakin

Day 4

Castles, mountains and on to Loch Ness… Once you leave Skye the first stop is a visit to the stunningly beautiful Eilean Donan Castle.* You then drive past the spectacular Torridon Mountains and through the stunning scenery of Glen Affric. Here you can stroll up to a beautiful waterfall, surrounded by ancient Caledonian forest. Then it’s on to your bed, near the fabled shores of Loch Ness. Overnight stay in Fort Augustus.

Day 5

Monster hunting, historic battlefields and home. Today you’ll have plenty of time to explore Loch Ness. Why not take a boat tour over to Urquhart Castle*, visit the Loch Ness 2000 Exhibition*, or just monster hunt from the shore? You’ll then head south and have the chance to visit the battlefield of Culloden*, the site of the defeat of the Jacobite forces. Then you’ll pass the stunning Cairngorm Mountains and be able to explore the picturesque town of Pitlochry before arriving back in Edinburgh and Glasgow. *optional extra

Brilliant experience, seen & learnt so much. Made especially memorable by our driver and tour guide, Jamie. The perfect mix of facts, fun, myths, legends, music, humour and incredible knowledge. So well organised. Such a lovely guy; Thank you, Jamie. Accommodation chosen was clean & comfortable, the only thing missing was a traditional Scottish breakfast. If you add this, it would be nigh on perfect! So enjoyable, would thoroughly recommend.

This was a really good tour. Our driver/guide Jaimie was fantastic. He provided the group with lots of historical facts and plenty of humorous stories. The guest house accommodation that we were allocated were all top class, however at our first guest house we were only given a continental breakfast. I had expected that as part of the Scottish Highlands experience we would have received a full Scottish breakfast. Otherwise the tour was very enjoyable.

The perfect way to see so much of Scotland in a few days.

Priced well, very organized, B and B's were all lovely and well appointed. Great mix of fellow tourists. We had Daniel as our guide...he somehow managed to "herd his sheep" and keep us on schedule...while entertaining us with fabulous historical facts and witty tidbits. He is also an excellent driver...the one lane roads and roller coaster bumps were handled with expertise. We would like to have had more time at Glencoe...otherwise the stops were well timed. Great trio...we will be recommending it to others. Daniel is a charming, easy going, organized guide...glad we met him!
