From Whitianga: Mercury Bay Schooner Cruise

1. From Whitianga: Mercury Bay Schooner Cruise

Meet at Whitianga wharf bright and early to allow for a full day of activities. Step on to the great Windborne; a 1928 Topsail Schooner, and meet your crew for the day. Once you devise a plan for the day the schooner will set sail. Sit back and relax on the large deck, listening to the tales of Windborne in the early days, and the captain's sea stories. Make sure to keep an eye out for dolphins, whales, and the vast array of birdlife swooping by. Visit some of the most breathtaking places around Mercury Bay including Cathedral Cove, Devil's Point, and Pink Beach. Drop anchor at these locations and go for a snorkel in the crystal clear waters, do some paddleboarding, or swim onto shore for a little look around. Or you can simply relax on deck and enjoy a picnic lunch. Arrive back to Whitianga at approximately 4:00 PM.

What an amazing chilled day on the sea. The owners where fabulous and made us feel very welcome. There were only 8 guests altogether which was nice and not crowded at all. The schooner is stunning and the weather was fantastic. We sailed around the bays and snorkelled. We were served tea and biscuits and fresh fruit. Michaela realised we hadn't brought our lunch with us by accident so she rustled something up for us which was lovely of her. Overall a really relaxed day sailing around the bay and taking in the fabulous views. What more could you want.

It was a wonderful day at sea. In total we were six guests + the two sailing ship owners. It was a social get-together. We sailed along the coast and then stopped in front of a bay where we could swim and there are even two baddle boards that you can use. It was just fantastic. At the end of the tour we sailed past Cathedral Cove. Unfortunately we didn't see any dolphins that day but a shark. The tour is highly recommended !!!!

We had the most fabulous day trip. Avon and Michaela we absolutely delightful, sharing their skills and knowledge, with some first class stories from their travels. Would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys being on the water. Such a beautiful yacht, it was an absolute privilege to spend over 6 hours on such a vessel. Enjoy!

The hosts were so kind. Everything was amazing, stunning views. Mikaela and her husband made us feel comfortable on the sailboat.
