Full-Day Highlights of the Alsace Tour: from Strasbourg

1. Full-Day Highlights of the Alsace Tour: from Strasbourg

You’ll depart Strasbourg in the morning and make your first stop on this day-long tour in Colmar. Discover the charm of the old town, and visit the Pfister house, the Koïfhus, St. Martin’s Collegiate Church, and the picturesque neighborhoods of Little Venice. Explore the lovely village of Eguisheim, surrounded by vineyards. Admire its narrow streets, and the half-timbered houses with their colorful flowers.  Continue on to the fortified town of Riquewirh. Surrounded by ramparts, the village has survived wars and remained intact. See its tiny streets, fortified walls, and 16th-century houses, admiring the architectural harmony. You’ll have free time to explore the town and have lunch. After lunch you’ll follow the scenic Alsace Wine Route. Situated between the Rhine valley and the Vosges mountain range, the 60-year-old route winds across hilly slopes for over 170 kilometers. When you reach Haut Koenigsbourg Castle your guide will take you on a tour of the mighty fortress that overlooks the valley. Built during the 12th century, the Castle occupied a strategic position controlling the wine and wheat routes to the north and the salt route from the east.

Myriam was an excellent driver and guide for our full day tour. It was fun with other guests coming from Boston, Uruguay, etc. We exchanged travel tips and ideas in between the excellent sights. We also enjoyed the wine tasting with another tour group after lunch. We had much more wines than due to the arrangement with the wine tour group. It was enjoyable conversation as a big group of 11.

This was a great all day trip! Went to three charming villages plus a castle. The van was very comfortable and all of the seats could easily hear what was being said as we passed through interesting areas. Jerome, our guide, was very knowledgeable and spoke perfect English. Definitely recommend this day trip when in the Alsace area!

Great tour. Recommend reservations when stopping for lunch. There was NO ROOM when we stopped and after and hour of wondering from place to place we ate at an outdoor food stand on the ground. Great tour overall, but highly recommend that guides either plan lunch or that guests are informed to plan ahead.

Robin was the best tour guide we have met in our day trips in France. He was able to explain the history of the places we have been to, he was knowledgeable and speaks English well.

The castle and villages were fun to explore. Our driver was very friendly and helpful
