Explore a secluded stargazing spot on the slopes of Mauna Kea. Stargazing on this summit has never been allowed for any individual or tour group; all other tours do their stargazing on the side of a busy road near the highway, but this tour allows you access to a remote spot located miles from any highway.  Head to the meeting point and grab a parka jacket. Hear about this unique spot from your guide, as they use a green laser to point out constellations, planets, space objects, and hopefully some fast-moving shooting stars. Your guide will also take some photos of the best objects in the night sky with an astro-modified camera/lens for you to check out later. Next comes everyone's favorite part; have some fun posing for astro-photos with the stars in the background. 2-3 photos taken during the experience will be sent to you after the trip. Have a photo stop here and take the amazing vistas of crashing waves on the beach. Continue with a short photo stop at Old Paia High School. Then, head to the heart of the Upcountry at the town of Makawao. Take some time here to do a bit of shopping as you explore its charming streets. After exploring the town for a bit, travel along the Kula Highway, enjoying the panoramic views all around you. Make a stop at Harold W Rice Memorial Park for a brief photo stop to take in your surroundings. Finally, arrive at a scenic private location on the slopes of the Haleakala volcano. Enjoy a private dinner surrounded by stunning scenery and tranquil nature, with the possibility of seeing birds and paragliders soaring overhead. Whatever you choose, it will be a full day.  In West Maui, you can go snorkeling (not a boat tour) or discover coastline gems, majestic mountains, and cultural and historical sites. Venture around the West Maui Mountain loop for coastal views and numerous activities including whale watching (seasonal), hiking to the Nakalele Blowhole, swimming in giant tide-pools (weather permitting), cliff jumping into a pristine ocean, visiting the legendary Dragon's Teeth and labyrinth, going on a leisurely walk through the lush jungle of Honolua Bay, trying local fresh fruit smoothies, visiting the isolated and historical Kahakuloa Village for tasty Hawaiian snacks, or discover ancient petroglyphs. On the south side of Maui, you can go snorkeling or relax on the best beaches.  In the central valley, you can explore Iao Valley, which is the deepest valley in West Maui Mountains or go to the base of the Iao Needle, which is a 1200 foot basalt tower once used as a watch tower during battles between the Polynesians. In Wailuku, you can visit Maui's Tropical Plantation for stunning landscapes and views with local coffee and fruit and the upscale Mill House restaurant for lunch.  In upcountry Maui, you can see panoramic views from 2500 to over 4500 feet, and visit the Kula Lavender Farm where all products are made from lavender. Stop at an organic vodka and rum distillery, for lunch at their farm-to-table cocktail cafe, paired with specialty drinks. Or you can visit Ulupalakua Vineyards (the Maui winery).  On the north shore, you can discover giant resting green sea turtles.   

Choose from a flexible range of activity options for the entire trip. In East Maui's Rainforest: explore Waikamoi, Pua'aka'a, Hanawi, and Waikani Falls. Hike to hidden locations and discover bamboo forests and Rainbow Eucalyptus trees. Visit the peninsula town of Keanae, known for its unique and stunning lava rock coastline with ocean currents crashing against the lava rock walls. Eat some tasty banana bread and smoothies at Aunt Sandy's or stop at Coconut Glenn's for the best homemade coconut ice-cream. Stroll along exotic black and red sand beaches or venture into a unique lava cave with headlights. Visit some of the largest and most impressive lava tubes in Hawaii. Arrive in Hana for excellent lunch choices and Hawaiian snacks from local gourmet food trucks, stands, and Hana Farms. See Green Sea Turtles resting on the beach, and more. Should you choose the Full Road to Hana Loop (clockwise or counterclockwise), make your way to the sheltered side of the island with rugged narrow windy roads that transition to the roller coaster smooth paved, Piilani Highway. Witness a remarkable contrast of cliffside driving with spectacular ocean views, panoramas of the Haleakala Volcano, sprawling landscapes, wildlife, and the Kaupo Gap. Make your way back home through the beautiful upcountry area of Kula for views of neighboring islands, Kaho'olawe, Lanai, U-shaped snorkeling isle of Molokini, and Iao Valley Mountains.

Enjoy the sweet smell of yellow and white ginger flowers (seasonal), as you hike through a lush jungle in the West Maui Mountains. Part of this adventure is the road less traveled, and at times, the entire journey feels that way. You will begin with a hike through bamboo thickets to a dirt trail that weaves in and out of a rocky/boulder-filled stream. This will lead, on a trail which involves lava-rock hopping, to an upper-tier waterfall and pool which is perfect for swimming. The stream flow can be higher or lower depending on the season, with a higher amount of rainfall occurring at higher elevations. Along the way, your guide will point out old native ruins, as well as native species such as Awapuhi Ginger (seasonal), which can be used to condition your skin and hair on the spot! You will also find Banyan trees, originally from India, with aerial roots that will leave you in awe of nature. After feeling refreshed from your first swim, we'll return to the original point of entry and begin your descent to the next phase of the journey.  The 2nd phase involves hiking through giant basalt formations while descending down to a 270-foot several-tier lower waterfall to explore and swim in the freshwater pools. The first tier has a natural waterfall slide that gushes into the pool, which is great for kids. You will then hike further down the rocky stream to an incredible banyan tree with giant roots for climbing down to a larger and more secluded 2nd-tier waterfall and pool, with the option of climbing into the fall. From here, you will stand above an even larger and steep 3rd-tier waterfall which gushes toward the ocean. This is a moderately challenging hike for experienced hikers or active types, including kids.
