Full description

Travel via high-speed catamaran from Lahaina Harbor to the Maui Channel to see the humpback whales, who return to Hawaii for a few months each year to mate and give birth. Get up close to these creatures in their native environment.

Keep your eyes peeled for whales slapping the surface with their pectoral fins (their very long side fins), flukes (the tail), or peduncle (the strong muscles attaching the tail to the rest of the body).

See the majesty of a breaching whale, if you are lucky. This is when a whale rises completely out of the water and crashes down again. Don’t forget to bring your camera.

I was a bit weary about booking because we were warned by many that it was the TAIL end of whale season and the likelihood of us seeing something was very slim. To our surprise, we saw 4 whales! A mama & her baby + two males. An amazing sight! The captain was hilarious and the staff was very attentive.

4/30 was the last day of Whale Watching, but it was nice to be able to see a pair of whales. The baby whale was active and appeared on the surface of the sea many times, but the mother whale showed her back and tail to the surface of the sea only twice.

Late in the season, April 27 2022, to see whales in Maui, however the guide for QUICKSILVER CHARTERS called other guides and found a mother and her calf. He also located a couple other whales which the guide said were more than likely males. The calf played a lot and jump out of the water a few times. The mother waved with her pectoral fins more than once. GREAT!!!
