Great experience learning how to make 3 different types of Cretan bread, and the recipes to take away afterwards. It wasn't as completely hands on as I would have liked, but I still managed to try kneading the breads too, and had some tasty food to eat afterwards, so enjoyable overall! I finished my day with a Greek coffee, cheese and olive oil in the coffee shop with my fresh baked bread. The trip also included history of Crete and how people used to live, including the museum. Not being a fan of museums I wasn't excited to do this part, but actually I really enjoyed learning about how people used to live only a few decades ago, really interesting. Would recommend this experience.
We weren’t sure what to expect with this tour because there weren’t many reviews when we booked it. We were so pleasantly surprised and had a wonderful time. We had a personalized cooking class and worked with a wonderful young girl to prepare a very substantial Cretan meal. We had great conversation with her throughout the meal preparation. Then we were seated outside on the patio to enjoy our meal and the views. The only thing that may be tricky for some is getting to the village. It is outside of Heraklion and will require a taxi who is familiar with the area.
If you want a real immersive experience into Cretan culture, look no further! Loved listening to this women speak of their history and the symbolism surrounding symbols and traditions. The entire experience was like going back in time. Truly transportive! Fabulous bread and hands-on bread activity, and fantastically learned people who make you feel like a long lost relation coming home instead "just another tourist." This is a must-go for anyone in the area! And don't forget to hang out in the coffee shop with the locals!
This was a great way to get a wonderful feel and taste for the wine, olive oil and food in Crete. Our tour guide, Pierre, was so knowledgeable of the wine, the food and the history. Everyone involved worked together to make sure we had a great time. Would definitely recommend to others.
Nice visit to the recreated traditional Crete village and museum. The cooking class was exceptional! We ate the food afterwards and were given a recipe booklet. Highly recommend and well worth it!
