This full day tour takes you to the Judean Hills and the shores of the Dead Sea, to the site of one of the most remarkable stories in Jewish history. Perched on a high plateau, the ancient fortified palace of Masada became a refuge for Zealots who took a stand against the Romans until their mass suicide in 73 AD. In a “business class” environment of a small group with personal service, you will depart from Tel Aviv for the Judean Hills and the lowest place on earth. Drive along the shores of the Dead Sea to Masada to learn about the heroic story of the Jewish fighters. High above the sea, the former palace sits precariously on a plateau some 1,300 feet above sea level. It measures 2,000-foot long by 1,000-foot wide and boasts commanding views of the Dead Sea and the Judean Desert. It is an exhausting climb, but luckily since King Herod’s time a fast-track cable car has been installed, allowing you to ascend the mountain in minutes. Once at the top, explore the fortress built by King Herod in around 37 BC. Visit the remains of the palaces and see mosaic floors, Roman baths and other findings. Masada was also home to the oldest synagogue in Israel, but one of the most remarkable features are the 12 water cisterns, each with a capacity of up to 140,000 cubic feet, that were hewn into the cliff. Descend by cable car and drive to the Dead Sea, or “Sea of Salt.” Located in the Jordan Rift Valley between Jordan and the West Bank, it is the lowest place on earth and its high density of salt makes for a unique experience as you float on the beautiful aquamarine surface. You will stop to relax at one of the resorts on the shores of the Dead Sea and enjoy the opportunity to float while covering yourself with the mineral-rich, therapeutic Dead Sea mud. After a tour, we'll head to Tabgha, famous for its wondrous story of Jesus making five loaves and two fish able to feed thousands. Your full-day Business-Class Tour begins when we pick you up at your hotel in Tel Aviv for the drive to the Mount of Olives. From the Mount of Olives you’ll have spectacular views of the city of Jerusalem. You will then stop at Mount Zion to visit King David's tomb, the room of the last supper and the Dormition Abbey. Once we’ve arrived, we’ll first enter the Old City. Your guide will take you on a walk through the Armenian and Jewish quarters to the Cardo, the recently reconstructed main street of Byzantine Jerusalem dating from the 6th century. The journey begins at the Mount of Olives. As you stand above the Jewish cemetery and look out over the Old City, you'll see the Temple Mount where Solomon’s Temple, destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 BCE, once stood, as well as the Second Temple, which was destroyed by the Romans in 70 CE. Additionally, you'll see the Garden of Gethsemane, the Church of All Nations, and the Kidron Valley with its ancient Jewish burial tombs. Entering the Old City via the Zion Gate, pass through the Armenian Quarter on route to the Jewish Quarter and the 1500-year-old Byzantine Cardo. The excavated Crusader shops are now modern stores. Stop at the Kotel, the Western Wall where Jews have prayed since the destruction of the Temple in 70 CE.  The Via Dolorosa, also known as the Way of the Cross, is the route many pilgrims follow on their way to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the church built on the site of Jesus’ crucifixion and his burial tomb. Although the Byzantine church was partially destroyed during the Persian and Muslim conquests, the rebuilt and redesigned Crusader Church preserved much of the earlier church. Exit the Old City via the market and the Jaffa Gate for a short tour of the new city. A visit to Yad VaShem, the Holocaust Museum, reveals artifacts and photographs documenting the discrimination, persecution, and, finally, the annihilation of Jewish communities across Europe. It also honors the righteous among the nations who risked their lives while trying to save Jews.

We start the day by picking you up from your hotel in Tel Aviv and heading to the Dead Sea via the Judean hills. Our drive continues from there along the shores of the Dead Sea, to the desert fortress of Masada. When we arrive at Masada, your guide will tell you the heroic story of the Jewish fighters. You will ascend Masada by cable car and then tour the mountain fortress that was built by King Herod. This is the spot where the Zealots of the 1st century made their last stand against the Roman troops. Explore the site to see the remains of the walls, palaces, synagogue, water cisterns, mosaic floors, and Roman baths. Once we have completed this part of the tour, we will descend Masada by cable car. Our next destination is the Dead Sea. Its shores are the lowest point on dry land on earth. You will have the opportunity to float and swim in the Dead Sea waters that many believe have special therapeutic effects.

What better place to celebrate Christmas than in the holy land itself? Begin the tour with a beautiful view over the entire city of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, and then enjoy a short drive around the Old City walls, taking in the lovely panoramas of the Kidron Valley and the Garden of Gethsemane. Then enter the Old City itself, and embark on a short walking tour through the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.
