1. Húsafell: Langjökulll Glacier Ice Cave Tour

Experience Iceland’s second-largest glacier from the inside and enjoy the rare sight of blue ice at the heart of an ice cap glacier on this half-day tour.  All tours depart from Húsafell, from where you will catch a shuttle to the Glacier Base Camp, Klaki. You will meet a professional guide and gear up in warm overalls if needed, before boarding a specially-modified glacier truck for the drive up to the cave entrance. Arriving at the cave entrance, head inside the glacier with your guide. The man-made Langjökull Glacier Tunnel is a wonder to behold. The ice is lit up from behind by glowing hues, allowing you to see the layers that have formed over many years. Your guide will walk with you through the glacier's corridors where you will have a chance to learn about geology, the history of glaciers, how they are formed and how they move.

From Gullfoss: Glacier Rush on Langjökull Glacier

2. From Gullfoss: Glacier Rush on Langjökull Glacier

Your friendly and fun-loving guide will give you instructions on how to operate the snowmobile and go over the safety procedures before you set off into the winter wonderland. For this tour, you will be with the most skillful and professional guides.  Travel faster and further than on the other tours and experience more. Your professional guide will tailor your trip according to the weather and the terrain. Experience the glacier as the locals do on their own performance machines. You will be provided with a powerful snowmobile, a three-cylinder 1000cc machine with approximately 140 horsepower. These snowmobiles have more than double the displacement offered on the other tours. These performance snowmobiles are single seated mountain machine monsters capable of handling all snowy terrains. They are best suited to those who have some recreational vehicle experience.

What people are saying about Highlands of Iceland

Fantastic but also thoughtful experience, because this beautiful glacier continues to decline due to climate change ... Unfortunately, our tour had to be postponed due to bad weather conditions, but everything went without any problems and the experience was great. Kristina, our guide, had a lot of interesting things to say and was always in the mood for fun. And the truck drivers are experts in their field! You should think of warm rainproof clothing and shoes - but you can also borrow a rain jacket and overshoes if necessary. We would do it again in a heartbeat

Very interesting and educational tour. Along the way to the ice cave, our onboard host, Christine, gave a lot of information about area and glaciers. Our guide inside the ice cave, Adrian, was very knowledgeable and funny. He explained the structures inside the cave, how the cave was formed, how deep underground the cave is and a lot more. Highly recommended tour.

Truly exhilarating experience. James was our Guide. Kept us informed and safe throughout the day and made it enjoyable. We were upgraded for free which included a snowmobile ride to the Ice Glacier Cave given the weather conditions on top of everything else. A highly recommended tour.

Wow. Just wow. Amazing. Definitely worth doing this tour. Tour guides were very friendly and fun. Absolutely must do this experience, if you are in Iceland.

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. We very much enjoyed our tour and experience.
