Totally did not expect to WALK on the planks of the Victory. Awesome feeling being between decks and hearing the info from the various points. From being physically close to the cannons and the height between the decks. An experience which will remain with my 11 year old granddaughter for a long time, particularly the toilet procedure and locations. Actually worth another visit.

HMS Victory was excellent. However, I was not informed about the extent of the restoration that was taking place on the GYG booking site beforehand. Also my son was unable to visit on the day due to illness and it is not clear if I can get a refund or extended validity. I have found it confusing who to deal with, GYG or Portsmouth Historic Dockyard admissions. Hopefully this will get resolved.

Looking round the ship is a fascinating and moving experience. She is excellently preserved and the whole experience is brought to life by the recorded handsets, activated at various points round the ship. Definately worth 5 stars. However, the signage to find the ship, the parking and the use of the postcode is unbelievably appalling. Allow extra time for this. It is because of these problems that I have downgraded my overall experience to 4 stars.
