Day trips

Victor met me at my hotel at 6 am and we drove in a private taxi together to trail head about 90 minutes away in rural Chinchero. We started the hike at about 8 am which gently rises about 1500 ft up a picturesque valley before peeking over a gorgeous panoramic pass and then starts a several hour gradual descent through fields with varying vegetation and some interesting birds. We were only people on the trail the entire day other than a local man on a horse that said hello on his way. Victor provided delicious snacks and a picnic lunch which we enjoyed along the way, taking fantastic photographs. We arrived to the archaeological site at about 11:00 and spent 90 minutes eating lunch and taking in the amazing views of the valley and walking through the many restored buildings. The site is fantastic and we were alone! Several very nice buildings and others still being restored. The walk down from the site into the valley is a very gnarly switchback path, safe. A+
