Port Stephens: Snorkel With Wild Dolphins

10. Port Stephens: Snorkel With Wild Dolphins

Your dolphin adventure begins at d'Albora Marina, Nelson Bay at 6:15 AM. Once you've checked in and been fitted with your wetsuit, mask and snorkel, the vessel leaves the dock and travels out through the heads of Nelson Bay. Whilst traveling out to the Port Stephens-Great Lakes Marine Park, you'll be trained in the swim protocols and given a snorkel briefing (if swimmer option selected). Once the dolphins have been located and their behavior monitored and found to be favorable for a swim, the the first group of swimmers enters a net at the bow of the vessel, all the while attached with a safety lanyard to the catamaran. The vessel will stop while your group (and your divemaster) enter the water - it will then begin to move slowly forward. The dolphins will swim back and forth between the bows of the vessel, quite often within a meter of the swimmers and seemingly fascinated by the strange creatures being towed in the water behind them! You'll be so close to the dolphins, it will be just like being a part of the pod! You can of course also just observe the dolphins from the boat without entering the water.

What a great introduction to Sydney on our first day. Collin made this a truly memorable experience for everyone onboard. Our pick up process was seamless. Although GetYourGuide doesn’t provide the option, be aware there is another pick up location located near Circular Quay. The drive to Hunter Valley was picturesque and not extremely long. Coll did a great job pointing out important landmarks and assisting us with looking for wild kangaroos. All of the vineyards were distinct and special in their own way. Although we were trying similar wines they all have their own twist that set them apart. They all made each of our experiences special from the cheese, chocolate, to getting a hands on experience on what the fermentation process looks like. Overall I would highly recommend this tour. It’s a good way of becoming familiar with the variety of wine, terrains, and experiences that Australia has to offer for a great value.

Since being in Australia for 2 weeks it’s been the most fun I’ve had. My husband and own ATVs ourselves, but we had never driven on sand or dunes, or had the thrill of going over the tremendous sand hills- SO HIGH and FUN!! I would highly recommend this to anyone. The guides are very careful and safety conscious, and will make sure everyone is well-instructed and in the level of group they belong in.

We had a great time, tasted some lovely wines and beautiful cheeses. Our driver/guide was fun and knowledgeable.

We were a group of 10 ladies. Best experience ever!! Staff friendly, knowledgeable and very obliging.

Amazing experience! Great tour guide. Particularly loved the wines and cheese at Two Fat Blokes.
