Discover the secrets to the national drink of Turkey, on a half-day coffee tasting tour and lesson in Istanbul. Your coffee adventure begins at a museum with exhibits dedicated to the history of Turkish coffee. Learn why it became Turkey’s national drink after the Ottomans brought the 1st beans from Egypt in 1519. Hear about the 1st coffee shops that opened in the Eminönü district just a few years later, and the prohibiton decrees set by some of the Ottoman sultans. Next, learn how to make the perfect Turkish coffee in an historic coffee shop. Follow the “Coffee Route” of the city center, going down tiny streets to interesting old bazaars and storage buildings. I had a great time on this coffee tour of Istanbul. My guide, Tuncer, was fantastic. He not only explained the history of coffee in Istanbul, but also he was a great conversationalist. We easily passed the time talking about Turkish culture, art, and history. Of course, he guided me towards three great coffee shops in the city, and he showed me a few places to buy fresh-roasted coffee beans for use at home, yet it was his kind, friendly, professional nature that was the real highlight. I would highly recommend this adventure in Istanbul.

Highly recommend it!

The tour was very informative and a cultural experience. I had a chance to taste different types of Turkish coffees, and even made my own which was fun. My tour guide was punctual, friendly, and personable. It's not just about the coffee but the culture and tradition of Turkey. Highly recommend it!

Great and authentic!

The tour was great and educational! It wasn't just about coffee, but the guide talked about the history about mosques, markets, and universities. He even walked us to the place where local people get their stuff! It is the real part of Istanbul, not anything like other tour guide. Highly recommended, if any of my friend want to visit Istanbul, I'd definately recommend this tour!
