Rovinj: Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle

5. Rovinj: Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle

Your tour will begin with Postojna Cave, one of the best-known caves in the world and one of the world’s largest karst monuments. This is the only place in the world where the underground landscape can be traversed on an electric train and where you can meet this underground kingdom’s most famous inhabitant, the proteus (olm), up close.  From here the tour extends to the Predjama Castle which reigns over the surrounding area in the idyllic village of Predjama. This picturesque, magnificent, defiant, mysterious and impregnable castle has been perched in the middle of a vertical 123-meter high cliff for more than 800 years. Its romantic appeal is further emphasized by the idyllic Lokva River, which disappears into the underground world deep below the castle. As the only preserved cave castle in Europe, the Predjama Castle offers a unique insight into the building techniques and resourcefulness of people in the Middle Ages, who found a safe harbor for themselves right at the entrance of the cave. During a siege that took place in the 15th century, the castle provided a refuge for its best known and most notorious owner, Erazem of Predjama. The legend of the courageous robber baron Erazem, who remained undefeated until one of his servants betrayed him, is still in people’s minds, inspiring and alluring as ever.

The best water park I've seen so far, not comparable to anything in Germany. Music is playing everywhere, in the wave pool there were two entertainers who did aqua aerobics / zumba, the whole pool celebrated, it was super cool. A few of the slides would have been too great for me personally, and the waiting time is really long on the big ones, but that's probably normal in August. My 7-year-old daughter could slide almost everything, the little one (2) unfortunately couldn't, but that wasn't bad at all, since the "baby pool" has a lot to offer, various slides and animators who make balloons for the kids. Small lawn sprinklers are set up along the paths so that you can walk on the hot ground, I think that's a great thing. The only negative thing for me were the toilets, as they are very, very slippery. The staff was also very, very nice and helpful. All in all the highlight of our vacation, I would go back anytime!

This water park leaves nothing to be desired. Is great in the design, cleanliness and all other areas. We have been there for the second time and this time with friends, who were also enthusiastic. We two families with adults, teenagers and small children all got our money's worth.

Very clean facility, lots of activities. We were there from 10 a.m. for 6 hours. Enough. In the afternoon, however, longer waiting times for most of the slides.

We were very satisfied for young and old, everything is included.

Very nice, well-kept slide park. Entrance fees are affordable.
