This one-of-a-kind tour is an overnight excursion that takes you from Washington, DC to Williamsburg, VA, one of America’s most popular historic destinations. You'll depart at 8:00 AM from Washington DC, with a comfortable 3-hour ride through Virginia to Williamsburg, home of the country’s beginnings. Upon arrival in Williamsburg, proceed to visit the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. Here you’ll learn all about the story of the nation’s founding, from the end of the colonial period to the dawn of the Constitution and beyond. In the evening, you’ll have free time to try out one of Colonial Williamsburg’s historic taverns. After breakfast the following morning, you’ll visit one of the most historic sites in the USA, Jamestown Settlement. This city was founded in 1607 as the US’s first permanent English colony. You will arrive back in D.C. at around 5:30 PM.
The adventure begins with pickup from your accommodation in Washington, DC and heads to Jamestown, Virginia. Learn how Jamestown was the first English settlement in North America, as well as the original capital of the state. Explore historic Jamestown with your guide, and admire the remnants of Fort James. Next, visit the reconstructed Glasshouse of 1608 and walk in the footsteps of Captain John Smith and Pocahontas. Continue onto Colonial Williamsburg, and enjoy a guided walk through the world’s largest living history museum. Travel back in time as you stroll through this historic site, complete with costumed actors who bring this revolutionary town to life. Before heading back to DC, visit Yorktown and check out the battlefield where General George Washington fought in the Revolutionary War.
