Kalbarri

Depart Kalbarri Airport for a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the Pink Lake at Hutt Lagoon near Port Gregory. Firstly, fly towards the town and low along the beachfront before climbing to cliff height to view the spectacular coastal cliffs with their red sedimentary rock colours. Continue past the surfing beach, Red Bluff and Rainbow Valley. This is where rainbows may be seen in the sea mist due to sands and silts containing an assortment of minerals that have layered, compacted and weathered to form this spectrum in stone.  Next, view a series of connecting gorges, including the natural bridge before flying past the white sandy beaches of Lucky Bay and over the Pink Lake. The lake contains a pink hue created by presence of carotenoid-producing algae Dunaliella salina, a source of ß-carotene, a food-coloring agent and source of vitamin A. The lagoon is approximately 70 square kilometres with most of it lying a few metres below sea level and fed by marine waters through springs. After circling the lake head back along the coastal cliffs and over the town before arriving at the airport.

Begin the morning by flying over the town of Kalbarri, then along the majestic coastal cliffs that tower over Gantheume Bay, with their lovely red sedimentary rock colors. The coastal cliffs have been over 400 million years in the making and were once part of an ancient coral reef system. The Abrolhos Islands is a chain of 122 islands and associated coral reefs, in the Indian Ocean approximately 65 kilometers (about 40 miles) off the west coast of Australia.  It is the southernmost true coral reef in the Indian Ocean, one of the highest latitude reef systems in the world and one of the most important seabird breeding sites.  Composed of three groups of 40 islands each, the Abrolhos boasts an incredible range of marine life and spectacular coral gardens that are excellent for diving and snorkelling while sea lions, dolphins and migratory whales are often spotted in the area. East Wallabi Island, known for its beautiful coral and turquoise bays, is where the plane lands. From here enjoy a short walk to Turtle Bay where the morning is spent swimming and snorkeling in the protected waters of the coral reef.  Morning tea with tea and coffee is included. Discover the island on a nature walk. View the abundant birdlife, neighboring islands and limestone cave formations.  Return to Kalbarri flying over the breathtaking coral atolls and the site of the historical Batavia shipwreck.

Take a journey along Western Australia’s Coral Coast, a region known for its stunning natural scenery, diverse wildlife, and gorgeous beaches.  Day 1 – Perth to Kalbarri Kick off your adventure by exploring the Pinnacles Desert in a guided tour before you journey up Indian Ocean Drive with its stunning coastal views. Make a quick stop in Geraldton, then onto the seaside town for your Kalbarri overnight stay. Lunch and dinner are included Day 2 – Kalbarri National Park to Monkey Mia Rise early for a photo opportunity at sunrise at either Nature’s Window or the Kalbarri Skywalk. Visit the marvels of The Murchison Gorge and Z-Bend in Kalbarri National Park. Travel on to the Billabong Roadhouse for refreshments and lunch (own expense). Visit the living fossils known as The Stromatolites, before movings on to Monkey Mia for accommodation by the beach. Breakfast and dinner are included. Day 3 – Monkey Mia to Coral Bay Say good morning to the famous dolphins of Monkey Mia. Relax on the beach or grab a coffee at the resort, before you get back on the road. Visit the fascinating rock formations, the Stromatolites, before you reach your Coral Bay accommodation next to the Ningaloo Reef. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included. Day 4 – Coral Bay to Exmouth Explore the Ningaloo Reef at your own leisure. Wander the beautiful Coral Bay beaches or check out the shark nursery. Snorkel the technicolor coral gardens only meters from shore. An optional boat tour or swim with the Manta Rays is available to purchase. Take a short drive up the peninsula to check-in to your Exmouth accommodation for two nights. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included. Day 5 – Exmouth Explore Cape Range National Park, a spectacular place of rugged limestone ranges, breathtaking deep canyons, and 50km of pristine beaches. Relax on the beach or choose to go snorkeling at the stunning Turquoise Bay, before finishing the tour in the early afternoon in time for lunch. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included. Day 6 – Exmouth Conclude your tour with check-out from your accommodation at 10:00 AM. Breakfast is included.
