Agra: Private Keoladeo National Park

1. Agra: Private Keoladeo National Park

Established in 1956, this 29 sq. km. of marshland is one of the finest bird sanctuaries in the world with over 360 species of birds. Now a UNESCO World Heritage site, it used to be a part of the private shooting reserve of the Maharaja of Bharatpur. Other animals found in the Park are Spotted Deer, Sambhar, Blue Bull, Black Buck, Jackal, Fishing Cat, Wild Cat, Hare, Mongoose and Monitor Lizard. After lunch in the city (pay directly), continue to the tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah. The craftsmanship of Itimad-ud-Daulah foreshadows that of the Taj Mahal. This marble tomb was created by Emperor Jehangir's queen Nur Jehan in the memory of her father. Continue to Taj Mahal where you arrive around sunset. Taj Mahal is the most famous monument dedicated to love by Mughal Emperor Shan Jehan. Taj Mahal cannot be described in words and is definitely the most beautiful of all Indian monuments… perhaps one of the most beautiful in the world.
