Your session will start with a safety briefing and some land-based training on the riverbank or our pontoon near Richmond Bridge. This typically takes 15-20 minutes depending on group size. We will introduce you to the kayaking equipment, teach you about safety and navigation on the river, as well as paddle techniques, including how to steer, stop and self-rescue. We will then head out onto the river, either upstream towards Eel Pie Island and Teddington or downstream towards Richmond Lock, Isleworth, Kew Gardens and Chiswick, depending on the tide. The distance actually covered will depend on wind and tide conditions on the day.

Embark on a walking tour that showcases the top landmarks in London's Westminster area, and enjoy the beauty of the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. Start your tour in Green Park, following your guide through the heart of Westminster. See Buckingham Palace, with a chance to witness the Changing of the Guard (daily in June & July, otherwise only on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays). Continue to Downing Street, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Parliament Square, and the Houses of Parliament (Westminster Palace). Along the way, hear stories of the city from the past and present. After the tour, get directions from your guide to travel to Kew Gardens with your pre-booked tickets, where you can immerse yourself in the beauty of nature and stay for as long as you like until closing time.

You do not need to be a proficient swimmer, but should be comfortable with falling into water while wearing a buoyancy aid. A certain level of flexibility and ability to get up to standing from kneeling is required for learning to paddleboard.
