5. Krabi: Tour of Elephant Care House and Tiger Cave Temple
Spend a few hours bathing and feeding elephants at an ethically run elephant sanctuary at the foot of Phanom Bencha mountain range. Complete the long-lasting experience with a visit to Tiger Cave Temple and a hike to the top to get a 360-degree panoramic view over Krabi.
On the day of your trip, get picked up and drive to Krabi Elephant Care House in just 15 minutes. The location is surrounded by untouched lush forests and mountain ranges and boasts Krabi’s highest altitude at 1,397 meters above sea level, home to natural wonders like waterfalls, streams, and caves.
Be met by a multilingual guide upon arrival, then start learning about the elephants’ behavior, what they eat, and their individual stories.
Next, walk with the elephants, bathe them, and join them in the water for a refreshing cool-off. Watch how they take a muddy bath and brush them while they frolic and play in the water. Feed the elephants pineapples, bananas, vitamins, and medicine as you observe these gentle giants. The elephants belong to the locals and are treated as a family. A strong belief in human-elephant interaction is what makes Krabi Elephant House so special. You’ll get a life-enhancing experience with these unique animals and learn about them in a natural and relaxed environment.
After a Thai-style picnic lunch at the sanctuary, continue to Tiger Cave Temple, a sacred site which is well-known for its exceedingly steep and sweaty ascent with 1237 steps.
After climbing, you will be rewarded with an outstanding view over Krabi’s limestone rocks and coastal area. The main Tiger Cave and the so-called “wonderland” rainforest are also worth seeing.
