Full description
Explore nine levels of Poland's extraordinary Wieliczka Salt Mine on a half-day tour from Krakow, and discover more than 3 kilometers of tunnels, art galleries, altars, and statues sculpted in salt. Located approximately 13 kilometers (8 miles) southeast of Krakow, the 13th-century Wieliczka Salt Mine is the result of tens of generations of miners. It's a monument to the history of Poland and to the Polish nation. Following your transfer from the city center, descend underground and walk through the extensive chambers chiseled out of rock salt. Marvel at saline lakes and majestic timber constructions, along with a collection of mining machines and equipment. Admire unique statues sculpted in salt. By the 15th century the mine was regarded as a cultural and geological phenomenon. It features about 3,000 chambers over nine separate floors. A highlight of your tour will be the Chapel of the Blessed Kinga, where you will discover a subterranean church richly decorated with chandeliers, sculptures and religious figures carved entirely from salt.

I highly recommend this tour! They left exactly right on time- to the minute. The tour was great, didn’t seem rushed at all. The salt mines were amazing. I wasn’t sure if I should visit the salt mines during my trip to Krakow but I am so glad I did. The guides organizing the transport and also the guide at the salt mine all spoke great English. You get bathroom breaks during the tour, there’s no walking upstairs (but a lot of walking down steps!), so it was a pretty relaxed / not intensive tour. Very beautiful as well.

Great few hours

The mines are absolutely fantastic, you have to do a lot of walking and a considerable amount of steps (thankfully all downhill). Our English speaking guide was very informative and we enjoyed every minute of the 2hours it took to walk through 1% of the actual mine that you see. Would definitely recommend!!

Amazing tour

We had a lovely gentleman (who’s name I can’t remember) his knowledge and experience made the whole tour a joy only sad thing was I never got a chance to let him know how much we enjoyed his tour. Salt mines are amazing we also went at a perfect time with little or less groups so it meant we had plenty time to see all parts of the mine, truly recommend. You will not be disappointed.
