Full description
Travel to Auschwitz-Birkenau on a 7-hour trip from Krakow. Visit the largest death camp in human history, and an infamous site of genocide during WWII. Auschwitz-Birkenau is synonymous with the worst atrocities ever committed. The camp was built by the Nazis in 1940 in the suburbs of Oswiecim. The total number of deaths is estimated at over 1.5 million people, representing 28 nationalities. Nearly 90 per cent of those killed were Jews. A visit to the former concentration camp is certain to be memorable because it makes it possible to imagine the scale of the Holocaust. Since 1979 the site has been listed by UNESCO on its Cultural and Natural World Heritage list.

An incredibly harrowing experience that is almost to strange to put into words, you will see things that generally make you feel a bit ill or confused as to how it could’ve happened in the first place. Guided tour with headphones was very informative and the woman who showed us round was a local that really knew her stuff and had a passion for the history and was great with answering questions too.

This was a well organised tour, our driver was bang on time, jovial and friendly. There were 4 of us and he organised a lunch bag which was well worth the money and a lot cheaper than the food places at Auschwitz and Salt Mines. Day started at Aushwitz then on to Birkenau. The local guides there were very informative and conveyed exactly what went on at these horrific places. Shame a few people have to get their picture for the “gram” and posing like they are Poland’s next top model. The second part of the trip was the salt mines which were simply breath taking and the local guide there was really good with a very dry sense of humour. I would thoroughly recommend doing this tour.

I loved what was included in this trip. The communication for the pick up was effective and it was beneficial having all the transport included. I would recommend choosing to have a packed lunch offered. There is a cafe in the salt mines but you would be here quite late in the day! Everything was well organised and I have recommended this trip to others.
