Almost 300 kilometers of hallways extend across 9 levels, reaching a depth of 327 meters, presenting the evolution of mining. The Salt Mines is one of those things that you must see. Having said that we could hardly hear the guide so lots was missed. Glad I saw it but wouldn’t rush back. Driver was great. As for the Schindler’s factory - an absolute must see. Gave us ideas on other places to visit and was a sobering but informative account of the WW2 situation in Poland. Having a guide take us through was perfect.

Quite intense but very instructive timing. No time to nibble a piece between the two excursions. The Salt Mine is amazing and the friendly guides and group dynamics show through. Skip-the-line tickets are very useful. Concerning Schindler's Factory, the space is confined, which allows you to feel life in the ghettos, on the other hand the museum optimizes the visits so the groups are too large to access the documents or pieces treated by the guide. As for the guide, he was friendly but he was also oppressed by our too many people who were jamming in the rooms. His explanations lacked anecdotes and hooks, bordering on boring, even if his knowledge was instructive and dramatic about the terrible fate of the Polish people from 1939 to 1945.
