Full description
The historic Salt Mine in Wieliczka is the only mining site in the world that has functioned continuously since the Middle Ages. Its original excavations (longitudinals, traverses, chambers, lakes, as well as minor and major shafts) are located on nine levels and extend to 300 kilometers: reaching the depths of 327 meters. During the tour, you will see underground chambers hewn out of the salt rock and statues sculpted in salt and saline lakes. Visitors with strong stomachs may walk down three levels and 136 meters below ground level. The mine is on the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites.

The tour is really interesting, the elevator at the end a bit exciting :) The pickup not so much.. We're pickup with a taxi (so far so good). Dropped of at a hotel at 8:30 at this location a bigger coach would pick us up at 09:00 according to the driver.. So a 30 minute wait outside.. Not perfect but it wasn't raining.. so bearable... However the coach came at 09:30 eventually, so an hour wait.. A bit disappointing.... The tour itself was very nice and interesting. And a must see if you visit krakow. After the tour when we've reached the coach we were kindly informed they were waiting for us. (prob 5 minutes). Not so nice to tell if you've left your customers an hour in the cold before.... The return dropoff in Krakow in stead of your hotel sucks. According to the tour-operator because it's so busy in the centre however apparently the pickup in the morning can be arranged by taxi but not in the afternoon, it would be a nice addition to be brought back as well.

We’ll organised trip

The English speaking guide was fantastic and very knowledgeable, we’ll organised trip/excellent excursion. I would use the company again. Only downside was an elderly couple who decided to ignore the guides instructions and instead stayed down the mine having lunch/coffee whilst the rest of us sat in the bus waiting for them for over 45 minutes, very inconsiderate indeed.

Amazing sculptures and the mine itself was very interesting.

This was an enjoyable trip and the sculptures made of salt were amazing. There are a lot of steps within the tour and some people found this difficult. There was a lift back up to the surface but it only takes 9 people at a time and this is very tight and claustrophobic. Our guide was good but it did seem a little rushed in places.
