Kyoto: Local Home Visit Ikebana Private Class

1. Kyoto: Local Home Visit Ikebana Private Class

Expand your knowledge about Japanese culture and learn how to do a traditional Ikenobo style flower arrangement in this class. Arrange plants that are removed from the nature and fill them with new beauty and place them in a new environment. You can re-create the shape of the plant it had in nature with branches, leaves, and flowers.  Dive into the history of Ikenobo, which  is the history of ikebana. Ikebana began with Ikenobo and although over 550 years many other schools have branched off from Ikenobo, Ikenobo is said to be the origin of ikebana. Arranging flowers and finding beauty in flowers are linked to a heart that values nature and cares for other people - this is the spirit of Ikenobo Ikebana.

This tour was exactly what was described - it was like having a friend show you around their city! My guide Nicolo was passionate about showing his city off and highlighting places to see and things to do. He helped me try foods I wouldn’t otherwise have tried on my own (due to my allergy and inability to communicate that effectively most times by myself) and even made reservations for lunch at a place he called ahead to to make sure they accommodate my needs! He also arranged a visit to a festival that only happens once a year and that I would have had no idea about! Thanks for an amazing day in Kyoto Nicolo!

Aya is an experienced, very friendly Ikebana teacher. The lesson begins with a brief introduction to the topic, followed by a brief introduction to the materials. The participants try to make a flower arrangement themselves. Aya then corrects and explains the background and philosophy. It's fun to learn here and even those who don't usually deal with flowers develop a desire to learn a little more about Ikebana. Everyone can take something away from this course for their own everyday life, even if you don't live in Japan.

At first I was very hesitant to take this tour, I didn't see many opinions and I didn't know if it was right, but I was very happy to see that my choice was correct! Our guide was Agustín, he was attentive and helpful at all times, very nice and also a very good professional, he explained all the monuments we visited very well and helped us with everything. Thank you very much for everything! It was great!

Jorge is an excellent guide, he has shown us the Gion neighborhood and explained the history of the gheisas in a very entertaining way, in addition to solving all the doubts that we have been raising and time has flown by. 100% recommended to make the most of your visit to Kyoto.

Gabriel, apart from being an excellent human being, is an excellent guide, he made our honeymoon experience in Kyoto spectacular!
