Full description
Start your full-day tour with a scenic drive from La Fortuna to the Tenorio Volcano National Park. Head out on a 4-hour hike that will take some effort but is definitely worth it. At the end of the hike you’ll have reached the Rio Celeste. The river’s blue color is the result of a chemical reaction between 2 merging rivers having different volcanic minerals. This rare phenomenon creates a fairy tale-like beauty. Visit a waterfall and a lookout point for great views and see the place where the river changes color. Your guide will point out local wildlife on this adventure as well. After your hike, enjoy a delicious lunch before the drive back to La Fortuna.

we had a wonderful day with Santiago. The pick up was a bit messy (20 min late) but we made it happen. it was a longer drive than expected (around 1h30 drive) but it was worth it !!! the park was absolutely gorgeous ! we stopped on the road to check some sloths, we continued in the park where it was absolutely magical ! we spotted a lot of different animals and the sighting was incredible. Santiago was soooo friendly, knowledgeable and great vibes. the lunch was great too and the swimming in the river was awesome. the group of people was super friendly too. it was honestly a great day in total ☺️. highly recommend !!!

My wife and I were picked up as part of only a group of 3, and we were driven ~1.5 hours to the Rio Celeste park. On the way, our eagle-eyed guide, Santiago, spotted our first sloth and pulled over so we could look at it and take a few pictures. The Rio Celeste itself was gorgeous, but there was a very long line to get into the park (they limit the park’s occupants) and a long line to see the waterfall itself. This was considerably more touristy than I had hoped for, and we did not see much wildlife once we were in the park. Santiago took us to multiple interesting views of the area and the river, including where the two rivers met resulting in the crazy color change. Upon leaving, we stopped by a local Soda for some traditional Costa Rican lunch (get the porkchop option, it was great), and then had the chance to swim in the blue water at a local river location. This was a fun time, and Santiago was great, but the long wait times and overly-touristy feel was unfortunate.

We were picked up from the rendezvous location 25 mins late but everything was smooth sailing after that. The drive, hike and lunch were all INCREDIBLE. and the tour guide, Mauricio made this trip exceptional with all his insight. The tour is an easy hike in Tenorio NP where we got to see Rio Celeste, boiling hot springs and a magnificent turquoise waterfall.
