Bali: Twin Lakes, Handara Gates, and Forest Trekking Tour

1. Bali: Twin Lakes, Handara Gates, and Forest Trekking Tour

With its turquoise twin lakes separated by tropical rainforest and peppered with serene Hindu temples dating back centuries, this protected area in the northern mountains is a Bali must-see.  Rather than taking on the rugged terrain alone, allow your guide to whisk you there by comfy air-conditioned transport, in time for a magical sunrise. After departing from your accommodation promptly by 4 AM, head north and arrive at a spectacular sunrise viewing point just before 6 AM. Begin the day’s trek towards the Twin Lakes. Both Buyan Lake and Tamblingan Lake are a sight to see, shrouded in rainforest and home to unique Balinese wildlife. Reach the real highlight of the day and cross the serene Lake Tamblingan by traditional canoe. Let your experienced guide do the arm work while sitting back and snapping photos of the majestic surroundings. Next, swing by Handara Gate, one of Bali’s most popular photo spots. Symbolizing a bridge between the real and spiritual realms, this photogenic stone arch is built in the typical Balinese style. Finish the day at Ulun Danu Bratan, a Hindu-Buddhist temple nestled on the banks of Lake Beratan. With 300 years of history and a feature on the 50,000 rupiah bank note, this is one of Bali’s most iconic destinations for visitors and locals alike. Learn about its history before heading back to your hotel.

Thank you very much Komang. Great guy and great guide! Tour started with a sunrise viewing from a great spot between the twin lakes. Somehow we didn't get breakfast even though it says it's included (?!). Then we went on the hike through the jungle to one of the lakea. Very nice hike, not too difficult. After that part we were driven to Handara Gate and to Ulun Danu Bratan temple. All in all a tour we can recommend.

I recommend this experience in the wild nature! Our driver Komang managed our time properly and is kind and well prepared! The naturalistic guide in the jungle is funny!

the only one good guide among all others who were practically just the drivers.
